The Marathon continues.
Three months after his death, Nipsey Hussle received a star-studded tribute while being posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award during the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday (June 23). T.I. took the stage first to salute the activist, philanthropist, and businessman, who dedicated years of his life to helping his community.
“There will never be another Nipsey Hussle,” said Tip before Nipsey’s family including his grandmother, mother, father, sister, son, daughter, and girlfriend Lauren London accepted the award on his behalf.
“I want to thank you guys for all the love and support, and the Marathon continues again,” said London before Nipsey’s mother delivered a heartfelt speech where she recalled the moment she learned that Nipsey had been shot.

Marsha Ambrosius kicked off the musical tribute with their Victory Lap collaboration “Real Big” as Nipsey’s sister sang along in the audience.
YG then paid homage to his brother by performing “Last Time That I Checc’d.” Decked out in all white, DJ Khaled capped things off with a rousing performance of his Father of Asahd single “Higher” featuring John Legend. They all joined together on stage for the emotional finale.
“Long live Nipsey Hussle. The Marathon continues!” said Khaled.
