Saturday Night Live will air its second episode of Season 44 on Saturday (Oct 6) featuring Crazy Rich Asians’ Awkwafina as host and Travis Scott as the musical guest. After a pretty awkward season premiere led by Kanye West’s Trump rant, the legendary NBC show looks to set a different tone.
Both Travis Scott and Awkwafina are fresh off of their successful releases. La Flame’s Astroworld debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts, in addition to his Drake-assisted hit, Sicko Mode peaking at number 4 on the Hot 100 charts. On the other hand, Awkafina made a splash on the big screen as a star in Crazy Rich Asians. The movie was a blockbuster film after grossing over $220 million. The late summer success of both stars perfectly ushered there SNL debuts.
During the newly released SNL promo clips, Travis Scott can hardly stay awake, Awkwafina plays it cool and SNL cast member Cecily Strong is enthusiastic about almost everything.
As the “Butterfly Effect” is fighting to stay awake, Strong expresses how fond she was of the movie, Crazy Rich Asians.
“I loved your movie,” she says. “It made me want to be a crazy rich Asian.”
The former Girl Code personality suggests that Strong can only be two out of the three. She jokes that she wants to settle for being crazy and Asian.
In another promo, Travis joins into ad-lib a short rap by the SNL star. With these three interesting personalities, fans are certainly in store for an entertaining episode. Peep the promo clips below.
