It’s about time someone addressed the root of the economic plight that many are protesting around the country today.
Black Entertainment Television founder Bob Johnson took to CNBC’s Squawk Box to call on the U.S. government to offer African Americans and the descendants of slaves in the United States a $14 trillion reparations plan in order to help quell the unrest in America’s streets.
“Think about this. Since 200-plus-years or so of slavery, labor taken with no compensation, is a wealth transfer. Denial of access to education, which is a primary driver of accumulation of income and wealth, is a wealth transfer,” said Johnson.
The 74-year-old media mogul added, “I’m talking about cash. We are a society based on wealth. That’s the foundation of capitalism.”
