Cardi B is preparing for another ride with the Fast & Furious family.
Vin Diesel has announced that the “Up” rapper will return in Fast 10, the first of the final two films in the blockbuster movie franchise.
“We are very much excited to evolve her character and to expand it to the finale,” Diesel told “Entertainment Tonight” at the premiere for F9. “She made it just in time. She came in Fast 9 just in time.”
Cardi plays Leysa in the latest installment of the Fast franchise, which opens Friday. “I think she’s conceited and she’s very confident,” she said of her character. “There’s a difference between conceited and confident, but I think she’s really both, and I guess she’s very competitive…and she’s just that bitch.”
She also hinted at a recurring role in the same interview. “Well, my management said Vin Diesel reached out and he was talking about a role that on the next Fast & Furious would become a bigger role, and I’m like, ‘Ahhhh, why not?’” said Cardi. “I was a little over it doing short appearances in films, but I’m like, ‘It’s freakin’ Fast & Furious,’ so I was like, ‘Get me there. Put me on a plane.’”
Earlier this year, it was reported that Cardi had landed her first starring movie role in the Paramount comedy Assisted Living. The Grammy winner will play Amber, a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong.
Cardi made her feature-film debut opposite Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, and Keke Palmer in the 2019 stripper crime drama Hustlers, which grossed over $150 million at the box office.
