Video: Meek Mill – ‘Trauma’

While he celebrates a win with his chart-topping album Championships, Meek Mill looks back on his journey in the powerful video for “Trauma.”

The Philly MC reflects on his traumatic life experiences starting from childhood. A young Meek, played by his own son Papi, sits next to a photo of his deceased father as he pens a letter to him. In the flashback scenes, the justice reform activist shares vivid memories of street life with drugs, police raids, prison, and even death. But the battle is far from over.

“How many times you send me to jail to know that I won’t fail?” he raps. “Invisible shackles on the king, ’cause shit, I’m on bail / I went from selling out arenas, now shit, I’m on sale / Them cold nights starting to feel like hell.”

“Trauma” follows the visual for “Intro” off Championships, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Next up, he will hit the road on “The Motivation Tour.” The 16-city U.S. trek kicks off Feb. 19 in Miami, with stops in L.A., Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, before wrapping March 24 in Atlanta.
