Travis Scott Performs for First Time Since Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott took the stage for the first time since the Astroworld tragedy.

The Houston rapper delivered a brief set at Richie Akiva’s pre-Oscars party at a private home in Bel-Air on Saturday night (March 26). Travis got behind the DJ booth and rapped along to his hits including “Antidote,” “Highest in the Room,” “Goosebumps,” and “Sicko Mode.” In footage, which was shared on social media, he appeared to be in great spirits, smiling while the crowd sang along.

It was a star-studded affair, with guests including Leonardo DiCaprio, Venus and Serena Williams, Tyga, YG, and more. Travis was also seen laughing and posing for a photo with Tobey Maguire.

The pre-Oscars gig marked Travis’ first performance since the Astroworld Festival on Nov. 5, which resulted in 10 deaths.

In the wake of the deadly concert, he announced his $5 million initiative “Project HEAL,” a long-term series of community-focused philanthropy and investment efforts that he says will be a “catalyst for real change.”

“Over the past few months I’ve been taking the time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community,” Travis wrote. “Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change. This will be a lifelong journey for me and my family.”

Prior to the tragedy, Travis was slated to headline Coachella. Kanye West announced plans to bring out Travis when he headlines the festival next month.

Travis, who welcomed a son in February, continues to work on his long-awaited album Utopia, the follow-up to 2018’s Astroworld.
