The Weeknd’s big year continues.
After being nominated for eight awards, the most of any artist, the XO crooner took over the American Music Awards for a world premiere performance of “In Your Eyes” and “Save Your Tears.” Wearing his signature red blazer, with a bandage wrapped around his head, he shut down a bridge in downtown L.A. and put on an explosive show with more fireworks than the Fourth of July.
Joined by Kenny G on saxophone, Abel danced his way down the bridge alongside pyro for “In Your Eyes” before switching gears for another After Hours standout, “Save Your Tears.” Smoke and sparks lit up the night sky for the big finale.

He also took home awards for Favorite Song – Soul/R&B for “Heartless” and Favorite Album – Soul/R&B for After Hours. While accepting the latter, he dedicated it to the late Prince, who presented him the same award in 2015. “He’s the reason I get to constantly challenge the genre of R&B,” said The Weeknd. “I’d like to dedicate this award to him.”
