The Rolling Stones Threaten to Sue Donald Trump over Choice of Rally Music

Rally at Your Own Risk: Trump Will Have You Sign Waiver to not Sue if You Contract Coronavirus

Iconic English rock band The Rolling Stones has threatened to take legal action against Donald Trump if he continues to use their song, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” during his campaign rallies.

On Sunday, the rock band stated that their legal team is working with the music rights organization, Broadcast Music Incorporated, to stop the use of their music in Trump’s re-election campaign.

“The BMI have notified the Trump campaign on behalf of the Stones that the unauthorized use of their songs will constitute a breach of its licensing agreement,” a statement released by The Stones says.

If Donald Trump disregards the exclusion and persists, then he would face a lawsuit for breaking the embargo and playing music that has not been licensed,” it concludes.

The Rolling Stones wouldn’t be the first artist to deny Trump’s use of their music with a cease and desist. Tom Petty’s family as well as Rihanna have issued similar cease and desist letters to Trump as he attempted to use their music to pump up the crowd.
