They’re back.
Just days after announcing their reunion, the Pussycat Dolls took the stage for the first time in nearly a decade on the finale of the U.K.’s “The X Factor: Celebrity.”
Lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, who is also a judge on the competition series, was joined by four of the original Dolls: Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta, and Carmit Bachar. Noticeably absent was Melody Thornton, who recently released her solo single “Love Will Return.”
The quintet performed a medley of their biggest hits including “Buttons,” “When I Grow Up,” and “Don’t Cha” before debuting a brand new song called “React.”
PCD will now hit the road on a reunion tour, which kicks off in April 2020 with a series of arena shows throughout the U.K.
The reunion has been years in the making. “The stars really have aligned. It’s the right time for each of us together to come together now,” Scherzinger told the AP. “We’re stronger than ever. It’s a great time in history for empowerment.”
In an interview with the BBC, Roberts explained why Thornton did not take part in the reunion. “Mel’s got a lot of projects going on in life,” she said. “She was included in all of this, she’s our sister, the door is always open, but it just wasn’t the right timing for her right now. We wish her well.”
The Pussycat Dolls last performed together in 2010, when Scherzinger left the group to pursue a solo career.
