Investigations into R. Kelly were already in action prior to the release of Surviving R. Kelly. TMZ details the FBI launched a probe into the singer and also contacted the family of Joycelyn Savage prior to the series hitting Lifetime, with the father having communications at minimum five times.
Joycelyn Savage has been one of the most notable women that are apart of R. Kelly’s alleged “sex cult” and was frequently mentioned in the closing parts of the docu-series. FBI left the meetings with the information requested, which provided them with access to emails and texts sent back and forth with their daughter and the singer.
The FBI’s jurisdiction begins when an adult, in this case, Kelly, would transport minors across state lines for sexual activities. The details of the report don’t include if there is a full investigation into R. Kelly. They would not confirm any details regarding the situation.
