Teens Plead Guilty to Manslaughter in Young Greatness Murder Case

In October 2018, New Orleans rapper Young Greatness, most well-known for his single “Moolah,” was killed in his hometown during a robbery at a local Waffle House.

Investigators and the family of Young Greatness, whose real name is Theodore Joseph Jones III, reached out to the public for help in finding the assailants who were seen in surveillance footage. This led to the arrest of three people: Lovance Wix (17, but 16 at the time of the murder), Donny Maxwell (19), and Donald Reaux (39).

Reaux has pleaded not guilty to the charges while Wix pleaded guilty to manslaughter, armed robbery, and obstruction of justice. Wix did not confess to killing Jones but stated that he did fire off a round during the robbery. Earlier this month, Maxwell also pleaded guilty to the same charges but admitted to conspiring to rob and kill Young Greatness. Wix has already been sentenced to 20 years while Maxwell has not been sentenced yet. Sources say that Maxwell possibly faces 40 years on the manslaughter charge and a maximum of 99 years for the armed robbery. However, he took a plea deal so most likely he won’t serve that amount of time.

Reaux is set to face trial on January 14th and it is unknown whether the two other assailants will testify against him.
