Dionne Warwick Made Surprise Appearance During Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle Verzuz Celebration

Dionne Warwick Made Surprise Appearance During Gladys Knight Patti LaBelle Verzuz Celebration

Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle were the latest legends to go head-to-head on the popular Instagram live Verzuz TV series.

During the three-hour showdown, the vocal powerhouses ran through their chart-topping, timeless hits, and shared behind-the-scenes stories about a few records. But the most enjoyable part of the live stream were the women singing along to the songs because they’re from an era when singers used to actually sing without autotune, and it’s almost impossible not to sing your own song.

They reminisced, shared laughs, harmonized with each other (and their younger selves), and encouraged hundreds of thousands of viewers to vote.

One highlight of the night was when Dionne Warwick joined the live stream and sung “That’s What Friends Are For” before joining Knight and LaBelle to sing “Superwoman.”

Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle was an epic follow-up to Monica and Brandy’s historic face-off.

Verzuz TV has grown exponentially since Timbaland and Swizz Beatz launched the series in March. We’ve come a long way from faulty connections and drunk shouting from respective screens.

Who do you think should appear on the next Verzuz?

Yung Miami Claims She was ‘Just Playing’ Following Brandy Shade

ax

R&B fans were blessed not too long ago with a Verzuz TV battle featuring R&B Divas, Monica and Brandy.

The R&B heavyweights went through a list of classics and even introduced new music to fans. At one point during the battle of the divas, Monica mentioned Caresha, aka Yung Miami from City Girls to which Brandy was a bit confused as to who Caresha was.

“Who?” said Brandy when Monica mentioned Caresha. “My girl from City Girls,” Monica responded to Brandy, who was looking around the room. “Oh, okay. I shoulda known. I’m sorry Caresha,” Brandy responded.

Soon after Yung Miami took to her Instagram to say, “I only know 2 Brandy songs so we even.” Brandy fans weren’t going to let the Florida rapper come for Brandy.

Yung Miami cleared the air quickly by posting, “I was just playing y’all damn I’m singing how you ever right now lol.” She made sure to not let fans take the joke and run with it as a fan quoted her tweet saying, “Keep it cute.” “B*tch I’m playing hoe shut up,” she responded.

Glad for another day to go by, where women in the industry aren’t at odds! We love to see it!

Brandy and Monica’s Verzuz Celebration Draws Over 6 Million Viewers, Raises $250K for Voting Initiative

Brandy and Monica's Verzuz Celebration Draws Over 6 Million Viewers, Raises $250K for Voting Initiative

Brandy and Monica’s highly-anticipated Verzuz celebration went down Monday evening and it was one for the books.

The R&B singers broke a record that was once held by International artists, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer. Over 1 million steadily tuned in to the three-hour Instagram Livestream. But the numbers for the other Livestreams came in including Apple TV and Apple Music and the ladies brought in an impressive 6 million viewers.

This means that the beloved virtual music series had higher viewership than MTV’s annual Video Music Awards, which aired the day before.

If you think that’s cool, not only did Kamala Harris make an appearance at the beginning of the stream, but Verzuz TV raised $250,000 for When We All Vote. Additionally, over 35,000 people signed up to vote.

“When We All Vote is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that is on a mission to increase participation in every election and close the race and age voting gap by changing the culture around voting, harnessing grassroots energy, and through strategic partnerships to reach every American,” as per the official site.

The organization’s co-chairs include Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monae, Chris Paul, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.

If you missed Brandy and Monica’s epic showdown, head over to Apple Music or check out the IGTV recap below.

Brandy and Monica Pay Tribute to the Many Loved Ones We’ve Lost in 2020 During Record-Breaking Verzuz Battle

Brandy and Monica Pay Tribute to the Many Loved Ones We've Lost in 2020 During Record-Breaking Verzuz Battle

It was just last night that the ladies brought out the all-white open toe sandals and their box braids to listen to two of R&B’s favorite women in the industry, Brandy and Monica. The two women had a record-breaking Verzuz TV battle with 1.2 million viewers.

Not only was it nice to see the two women come together, but also uplift everyone around during a hard time after hearing about the passing of our Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman.

The two R&B Divas paid tribute to our loved ones who we have lost in the entertainment industry after playing a Brandy classic. One of Brandy’s ten poems she read last night really caught fans’ eye as it read. “We are attached to our moments to see our loved ones in our day. The names swarm into shapes, clouds, into smiles, into colors. But I feel like sounds and numbers next to names whisper that they are all still with us,” Brandy begins.

With a tearful expression, Brandy continued, “Number 24 and Number 8, Kobe Bryant. Number 2, Gianna Bryant. Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman. Nipsey Hussle, Lashawn Daniels, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and all the loved ones we have lost, this song is dedicated to them,” said Brandy as she began to play her song “Missing You.”

We have lost so many loved ones, it is important to love each other, each and every day. Rest In Power to all of our sisters and brothers.
