According to news affiliate KWTX in Texas, Wesley Takquan Lewis aka Hotboy Wes, a rapper signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label, was arrested yesterday(February 1) with three other men by the U.S. Marshals’ Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in Texas.
Even though Wes’ arrest originally stems from a robbery warrant, he was arrested by the Marshals for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and theft of a firearm, which was recovered during his arrest.
The Waco, Texas native is currently being held on a $30,000 bond for the three charges, with the bond set for $20K for the robbery alone.
Gucci Mane signed Hotboy Wes to his 1017 imprint in the summer of 2021.
Ever since the initial reports started to emerge about the suspects in the Young Dolph murder, 23-year-old Justin Johnson has been the primary suspect in the deadly shooting, but this week, two more people have been arrested and new information has surfaced about the second suspect arrested.
32-year-old Cornelius Smith, the second suspect, has been in custody at least two days prior to the capture of Johnson and Shundale Barnett, who was arrested on Tuesday in Terre Haute, Indiana by U.S. Marshals. Smith was arrested in Southaven, Mississippi on an auto-theft charge, which involved the white Mercedes that was used as the getaway car in Young Dolph’s murder.
Smith has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm, employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, and theft of property over $10,000. He’s also been charged with the attempted murder of Young Dolph’s brother, who was present at the time of the fatal shooting. Smith is currently being held in custody with no bond.
According to a report from TMZ, 23-year-old Justin Johnson and 32-year-old Cornelius Smith were arrested today(January 11) for the murder of Young Dolph in Memphis last November.
Johnson, who also goes by the rapper name Straight Dropp, released a music video following making a public post that he would be turning himself in after he was named as a suspect in Young Dolph’s shooting death at Makeda’s Cookies in Memphis.
Smith was also arrested in Indiana in connection to the shooting and has been charged with first-degree murder. Johnson was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and theft.
Johnson continues to proclaim his innocence while Smith has yet to make a public statement.
After the U.S. Marshals and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation offered up a combined award of $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Justin Johnson, the alleged killer took to social media to declare his innocence and turn himself in. Now, in an unexpected turn of events, Johnson aka Straight Dropp released a music video titled “Track Hawk”.
Dropp’s latest visual may be racking up views, but it hasn’t been confirmed as to whether or not he stuck to his word and surrendered to authorities yesterday. Johnson is the primary suspect in the murder of Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr., who was killed on November 17 in his hometown of Memphis. He was 36 years old.
According to several confirmed reports, the U.S. Marshals have named a suspect in the November 17, 2020 murder of Memphis rap favorite Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. and have offered up a $15,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect.
It has been confirmed that 23-year-old Justin Johnson is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and has been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Most Wanted List for the murder of Young Dolph at Makeda’s Homemade Cookies in Memphis. The U.S Marshals are offering a $15,000 reward for anyone who has information about his whereabouts.
Johnson, a rapper who is known locally as “Straight Dropp”, is described as a 5-foot-8-inches African American male who weighs 190 pounds with the name “Jaiya” tattooed on his right arm.
Authorities released surveillance images of two shooters shortly after Dolph’s murder, both donning masks and hoodies. One of the gunmen held an AK-47 while the other one gripped a pistol and both of them escaped from the murder scene in a white Mercedes Benz. Authorities have yet to identify the second shooter.
Also, Johnson has seen substantial growth in his IG followers and activity, even though there have only been two posts on his account since Dolph’s killing. People who have commented on the posts insinuate that the cars, money, and clothes were part of the payoff money he received for taking Dolph’s life.
Ironically enough, while news just broke about Johnson being a suspect in the murder, the streets had already pegged him as a shooter because comments on Johnson’s IG post from last week have people calling him out for Dolph’s murder.
