Having teased the single on his TikTok last week, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” comes as the first official release off COYOTE, giving fans an early taste of the project Tommy announced as album of the year during his late-night TV debut performance of “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The new single comes as a downtempo heartstring-pulling alt-R&B ballad, steering away from the upbeat funk sonics of his previous dance-rooted viral hits “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and “DEVIL IS A LIE.” Tommy’s melodic vocal layers floating over the song’s vintage drum-machine groove, hazy chord progression, and howling synth lead highlight the creative maverick’s boundless artistic range as he reflects on previous heartbreak.

Directed by Lonewolf, the new music video shows Tommy cruising through the desert with a female companion, reminiscing about the lovely moments they once shared. Scenic mountain shots alternate with footage of Tommy serenading his dream girl under the night sky, until he’s hit with the heavy reality of the situation and wakes up from his dream among a pack of wolves. An eerie clip of a lone wolf overlooking the highway closes out the video, symbolizing Tommy’s journey so far. “It’s a great example of slowing things down a little bit… It’s not always about the hype songs. I’m versatile,” says Tommy.

Tommy Richman Announces Debut Album ‘COYOTE’ for Sept. 27th

Rising star Tommy Richman has officially announced the release of his highly anticipated debut album, COYOTE, set to drop on Sept. 27th via ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The announcement comes alongside the release of the latest COYOTE visual trailer, further fueling excitement for what is shaping up to be a monumental year for the artist.

Richman has been making waves with his hit singles “DEVIL IS A LIE” and “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” both of which have charted on Billboard’s Hot 100. “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” has solidified its status as a cultural phenomenon, currently holding the #1 spot on Mediabase’s Top 40 and Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart. The track also topped Billboard’s Global 200 chart and TikTok’s Billboard Top 50, recently surpassing 1 billion global streams. Celebrated as the song of the summer, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” was included in former President Barack Obama’s 2024 Summer Playlist.

COYOTE marks Richman’s debut album following his signing with fellow DMV-native Brent Faiyaz’s label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The album features songs that began during a challenging period in Richman’s life, later finalized in the desert in early 2024. Tommy Richman has officially announced his highly anticipated debut album, COYOTE, is slated for release September 27th via ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records.

The announcement of the new album release date is accompanied by his latest COYOTE visual trailer, adding to what is already shaping up to be a monumental year for Tommy. This follows the success of his singles “DEVIL IS A LIE” and “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” both of which charted on Billboard’s Hot 100, with “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” now holding the #1 spot on Mediabase’s Top 40 and Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart. After debuting at number 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” hit number 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart and Tik Tok Billboard Top 50, recently surpassed 1 Billion global streams and broke a new record as the longest running #1 song on the Tik Tok Billboard Top 50 after holding the spot for 10 weeks in a row.

Celebrated by various music outlets and critics as the song of the summer since it’s release, including #1 on TikTok’s “Songs Of The Summer” list after being the most used song on the platform, the song has also peaked as the #1 Overall Streaming Track (all genres) and the #1 Audio Global Streaming Track (all genres), and was included in former President Barack Obama’s 2024 Summer Playlist. Last month, Tommy was also announced as one of the first three independent artists to join this year’s YouTube Foundry Program cohort.

COYOTE comes as Tommy Richman’s debut album following the record-breaking star being signed to fellow DMV-native Brent Faiyaz’s label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The LP contains songs that began years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his art. In early 2024, he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and big skies inspired Tommy, who sees COYOTE as a thematic follow-up to his 2022 E.P., ALLIGATOR. “I’ve been building up my discography for years. Tommy Richman Earns #1 Spot For “Million Dollar Baby” On Mediabase Top 40, Performing On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Tonight

Tommy Richman has broken records with his runaway smash hit and song of the summer “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and today hits a new high as the #1 Mediabase Top 40 song this week after 14 weeks on the charts!

In anticipation of Richman’s new album Coyote, coming this fall via ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records, Richman will perform live at select dates in New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles & Chicago as part of the Before The Desert live run kicking off September 10th.

Richman also makes his late night TV debut tonight, performing “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35pm EST / 10:35pm CST.

Following the “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” viral visualizer which hit over 53 Million views in just 3 months, Richman followed up with the release of the official music video for “MILLION DOLLAR BABY”, which quickly amassed over 13 Million views in a little over a month. Since release, the track has also became the #1 Overall Streaming Track (all genres) and the #1 Audio Global Streaming Track (all genres), with radio success at five different musical formats.

Tommy Richman has officially announced three live shows in support of his upcoming album, Coyote, coming this fall via ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The Before The Desert show run is set to kick off on Sept. 10th in Tommy’s hometown area of the DMV at Washington D.C.’s Union Stage, followed by a show in New York City before wrapping up on Sept. 18th in Los Angeles.

The announcement of new live dates adds to what is already shaping out as a monumental year for Tommy, following both his singles “DEVIL IS A LIE” and “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” charting on Billboard’s Hot 100. Earlier this month, Tommy released the official music video for his smash hit “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” which recently surpassed 1 Billion global streams and broke a new record as the longest-running #1 song on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 after holding the spot for 10 weeks in a row.

The upcoming shows in major markets will pave the way for a seminal album release, as Tommy will be previewing new music and playing his recent hits before launching the album set to mark a new era of his expansive career. [WATCH] Funkmaster Flex Calls “Million Dollar Baby” By Tommy Richman “Trash”

NYC radio personality Funkmaster Flex has never pulled any punches when it comes to his opinion about music and it hasn’t stopped with one of the most successful singles of the year.

Flex took to the HOT 97 airwaves this past weekend to review the popular track and the legendary NYC DJ had nothing good to say about Richman’s song, calling it “trash” as shown below when an X user recorded Flex’s radio commentary.

Flex admitted that he doesn’t know and hasn’t heard of any other songs from the VA-born artist, who has been making music since 2016. Flex ended his rant by labeling the song hot garbage, but stillproceeded to play the record, presumably under the program director’s demand.
