Invest Fest returns with a bang! This year, brace yourselves for the inaugural Nipsey Hussle Business Grant: $100,000 Invest Fest Pitch Competition. Along the journey, they have encountered remarkable entrepreneurs charting their course with unwavering purpose and commitment to excellence. Now, through their partnership with Microsoft and The Marathon were primed to award $100,000 to one outstanding entrepreneur to fuel their business ambitions. The top four finalists will grace the Invest Fest 2024 main stage to compete for the grand prize.

The Neighborhood Nip Foundation was created in 2019 with a mission to extend Nipsey Hussle’s legacy and mission to inspire the community through initiatives that will benefit underprivileged youth. Most recently the foundation was an official charity partner for the 2024 LA Marathon with over 65 participants finishing the 26.2 miles marathon. All funds raised went towards the rebirth of the Nipsey Hussle Plaza, home to the headquarters of The Neighborhood Nip Foundation, located at 3420 W. Slauson Ave., the original location of The Marathon Store in Los Angeles, CA.

Following Hussle’s passion for creating a program that aids and encourages youth to reach their highest potential, the renovated site will serve as a massive community center for elementary through high school level students. Led by staff members of the foundation and additional volunteers from the community, programming will range from academic studies to music and studio-specific access. Additionally, the plaza will offer exclusive access to The Marathon Store, which will not be open to the public, as well as free haircuts at Steve’s Barbershop named after Hussle’s childhood friend & business partner, Stephen “Fatts” Donaldson. Hussle’s estate plans to open the doors of The Neighborhood Nip Foundation in 2024.

All applications will be reviewed after the posted deadline. Successful applicants will be notified via email by August 16th, 2024.

Nipsey Hussle's ‘The Marathon’ Visual Album Will Stream Live Friday

Fans of Nipsey Hussle can tune in this Friday to the live stream of his visual album.

The estate of Nipsey Hussle announced plans to release a visual album for his 2010 mixtape The Marathon.

So after a long wait, fans can finally see the premiere of the visual album this upcoming Friday!  You know it’s official because the announcement was made on the rapper’s Instagram. The announcement features a preview with a Mercedes driving in the sunset. So far, the clips of the visual experience seem to eulogize the beloved rapper.

Nipsey Hussle was known not only as a talented artist but a cornerstone of the Crenshaw community.

Furthermore, @okidoki, one of the project designers, shared a second clip on their Instagram as well. With the second clip being posted, the designer also tagged Rodeo Drive as the location. “Celebrating the life of an incredible human, the Marathon Mixtape and the first week of #BlackHistoryYear,” the caption reads.

Nipsey’s estate first teased the project back in December. With the teaser, the estate included a statement announcing the collaboration with the virtual content creator OkiDoki. In addition, the statement features them giving thanks to the creator for bringing the visual album to life.

“The experience will give viewers [an] intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece. The people, the places, the stories, and more.”

Nipsey’s 18-track mixtape The Marathon was released on Dec. 21, 2010 around the time Nipsey was trying to get out of his deal with Epic Records, and spawned songs like “Keys to the City” and “Late Nights and Early Mornings.”

It’s been nearly two years since his death, but Nipsey’s legacy lives on. After winning two Grammys last year, he was posthumously nominated for another Grammy and two NAACP Image Awards for “Deep Reverence,” his collaboration with Big Sean.

Lauren London Announces Creation of Nipsey Hussle Tower on West Slauson Avenue

Lauren London made a bittersweet announcement on Instagram Thursday night.

Unfortunately, The Marathon clothing store will remain closed but you are able to shop online. But Nipsey Hussle will be immortalized at the location where his life was taken. The late rapper’s girlfriend posted, “As a notice to the public, we’re putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave to start the early development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commemorate and honor the life and legacy of Nipsey. The Marathon Store will remain closed, but you can shop online at TheMarathonClothing.com.”

Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside of his retail store on March 31st, 2019. A star-studded memorial was held in his honor at the Staples Center about a week after.

Many conspiracy theorists believed he was assassinated because of his influence over the youth, gang members, and his work on the documentary highlighting the holistic teachings of the late, Dr. Sebi. But it turns out the gunman, Eric Holder, allegedly shot Nipsey Hussle because he was dubbed a rat and got upset.

LAPD Claims Nipsey Hussle Wasn’t Targeted in The Marathon Investigation

It was an eyebrow raiser yesterday when headlines read the LAPD was investigating Nipsey Hussle and his associates for gang related activities in and around The Marathon clothing store up until the time of his death.

But now authorities are claiming that the late rapper wasn’t on their radar. TMZ reports that a high-ranking official confirmed that the investigation was about the ongoing gang activities that occurs around the mall strip. It’s important to note that the tabloid said that the LAPD and L.A. City Attorney couldn’t explain why Nipsey Hussle’s name was brought up in the investigation in the first place since he allegedly wasn’t a target, or what their end game was.

The case is now a flop since the slain rapper has been dubbed a neighborhood hero who was against gang violence and employed felons and ex-convicts to keep them off the streets.

The “Racks in the Middle” rapper’s store has been closed since he was gunned down but the online store is still available to make purchases.

BREAKING: Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Murderer Gets Indicted

Breaking: Eric Holder, the accused murderer of Grammy-nominated rap star Nipsey Hussle has been indicted by a grand jury in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Country District Attorney’s Office made the announcement this evening, inching towards the mark of justice for the slain icon.

In a statement, Assistant Chief Greg Risling told the public, that on May 9th, Holder was indicted on one count of murder, two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. The indictment was previously sealed.

This comes after the city’s prosecutors previously charged Holder with the same charges. This indictment supersedes that court and the case will be skipped past a preliminary hearing and go straight to trial.

Holder remains steadfast, pleading not guilty to all of the charges against him. Should he be convicted, he faces a possible life sentence in California prison. His bail is set for $6.53 million and his pretrial court date will be in June.

The 29-year-old allegedly murdered Hussle in broad daylight outside of his Marthon store in Crenshaw district of Los Angeles. Two others were wounded during the incident. He was arrested days later on April 2nd.

Nipsey Hussle’s Retail Store Reportedly Makes $10 Million Following his Passing

Nipsey Hussle’s clothing store, The Marathon, has a experience a surge in sales following the rapper’s untimely death.

XXL reports that at least $10 million worth of clothing and accessories have been purchased from the store. Supporters flocked to the clothing store after Nip was assassinated right in the store’s parking lot. The store was also memorialized in his honor. But majority of the sales come from hoodies, hats, and t-shirts purchased online.

The massive amount of orders has slowed down production and shipping at The Marathon store, but Nipsey Hussle’s family and friends are all thankful for the love. The folks continuing the marathon have announced that the physical location will be closed down until they catch up with orders.

Survivor From Nipsey Hussle Shooting Expected to be Released From Jail

The man who was arrested for a parole violation after he was shot with Nipsey Hussle is expected to be released.

Kerry Lathan, 56, was arrested because his parole prohibits him from associating with known gang members, and the late rapper is a member of the Rolling 60’s Crips. Lathan said in a recent interview that he didn’t know the “Racks in the Middle” rapper prior and that he was just there shopping before Eric Holder came and opened gun fire.

After getting hospitalized, Lathan was transferred to Men’s Central Jail in downtown L.A.but TMZ reports that the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation withdrew its petition to revoke his parole.

There’s no telling why the Corrections Department made this decision. Presumably because Nipsey Hussle has been celebrated as a community hero and exemplary leader who promote black ownership and financial literacy. He got love from L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti to President Obama and the LAPD.

Ironically, he was scheduled to meet with the LAPD alongside Roc Nation to discuss combating gang violence.

Multiple People Were Reportedly Injured at Nipsey Hussle’s LA Vigil

Multiple people were reportedly injured during Nipsey Hussle’s vigil in Los Angeles right outside of his store The Marathon, where he was brutally murdered.

Initial reports suggested that there were shots fired but authorities stated that those claims “do not appear to be accurate.”

Hundreds of people gathered around Nipsey’s store to remember his life and legacy. “At some point things got a little chaotic, there may have been a fight that broke out in the crowd,” LAPD’s Josh Rubenstein said to ABC7.

It’s unclear how many people were injured but the footage below shows the crowd quickly scattering but we’re unsure what exactly happened.

The Los Angeles Times reports that someone was stabbed and others were injured from being trampled on. “We had at least one patient in critical condition that was transported at the initiation of the incident, but I cannot confirm the type of injuries suffered at this point,” LAFD’s Margaret Stewart told USA TODAY. “We have over 65 firefighters on scene.”

Nipsey Hussle was sadly killed on Sunday, March 31st. He was only 33.

Nipsey Hussle Was Scheduled to Meet With LAPD, Roc Nation to Discuss Combating Gang Violence

Nipsey Hussle was more than a rapper. He was an activist, philanthropist and a leader for all young Black kings with a troubled past destined for greatness.

The Crenshaw rapper was scheduled to meet with the LAPD today alongside Roc Nation to discuss ways to combat gang violence. Ironically, authorities are suggesting that the shooting was gang related. Many fans are having trouble to believe those reports because Nipsey was known to go to any hood comfortably without security, especially his own hood.

There aren’t any further details in regards to the meeting besides the fact that Nipsey Hussle is the one who requested the meeting and it was supposed to go down today at 4:00pm. Hopefully it still goes on because like the late rapper said, the marathon must continue.
