Drake’s Favorite Show ‘Top Boy’ Officially Returns On Netflix This Fall

Although it took years of fan protests and a huge co-sign by supefan Drake, the cult classic UK television series Top Boy is officially being revived by Netflix with a handful of new and returning characters.

The reboot sees British rappers Kano and Ashley “Asher D” Walters reprising their roles as Sully and Dushane, respectively, both back to dominate the underground drug market in London. Two more emcees out of the UK join the cast as well, including Santan Dave (now going simply by Dave) playing the character Modie and rap sensation Little Simz as the beautiful Shelley. The core cast is rounded out by newcomer Jasmine Jobson as Jaq and Micheal Ward as Jamie, the latter a young gang leader that’s looking to make it extra hard for Dushane and Sully to reclaim their street king titles.

No word yet on if Drake will have a guest starring role, but with 10 new episodes scheduled for this season it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he makes a cameo somewhere along the way. Top Boy is created and written by Ronan Bennett, with directors Reinaldo Marcus Green, Nia DaCosta, Aneil Karia and Brady Hood all on board to help bring the story to life once again.

Dapper Dan’s Interview on ‘The Daily Show’ Is the Inspo All Aspiring Fashion Designers Need Right Now

For those still getting around to reading the new book Made in Harlem by fashion icon Dapper Dan, the legendary designer stopped by The Daily Show with host Trevor Noah recently for an insightful one-on-one that will have you running to a bookstore to begin reading, ASAP!

The convo feels like one of those talks you’d have with a wise elder family member, which Dapper Dan could be considered to the culture as a whole given the 74-year-old’s wisdom and prowess within his field of expertise. He discusses everything from his early hustler days of making “something out of nothing,” whether that be making his own fabric or spearheading the “logomania” craze, to making self-described “knock-ups” for some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and Black Hollywood alike. LL Cool J, Jam Master Jay, Salt-N-Pepa and most notably Mike Tyson were some of his premiere clients, and it continues today as we saw at this year’s Met Gala when he gave some of the flyest Gucci looks to 21 Savage, Regina Hall, Omari Hardwick and others.

Of all the gems he drops in this interview, here’s the one that stands out the most for us:

“Culture is what moves fashion; this Hip-Hop culture went global! So, if the culture can go global, why can’t the representatives of the culture go global as well? That’s what I advocate for.”

— Dapper Dan

Watch Dapper Dan’s full interview on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah above, which includes deeper conversation about his partnership with Gucci and his decision to stand by them through the recent controversy. Also, pick up Made in Harlem right now for the most insightful look into his journey of success in the fashion world.

This Is War: ‘Power’ Preps For “The Final Betrayal” With Season Six Trailer

The hit STARZ series Power by 50 Cent and Courtney A. Kemp officially comes to an end this summer, and now we’ve got a first look at how the show’s final season will all play out.

Outside of being advertised as the final showdown, Season 6 will also see the homie Curtis Jackson making his directorial debut following the fate last season of his fan-favorite character Kanan Stark. This time it seems like all family ties, both friendly and those bonded by blood, have been severed beyond repair. The losses seem to be coming from all ends for Ghost (Omari Hardwick): he now finds himself in the middle of a street war with former partner-in-crime Tommy (Joseph Sikora) — his new righthand on the quest for kingpin status now includes girlfriend LaKeisha (La La Anthony) — dealing with the downward spiral of a relationship with both his wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) plus trying to piece together a plan that will both honor his deceased daughter and finally give him a clean slate to start fresh on.

Season 6 of ‘Power‘ returns on August 25. Get an early preview of the final season by checking out the trailer above.

Peep the First Trailer for Hulu’s ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’ Miniseries

We’ve been getting updates on this project for a minute now, but now it’s finally official: Hulu has dropped the first trailer for the highly-anticipated miniseries Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

The 10-episode drama, which chronicles how Hip-Hop’s most celebrated crew first formed like Voltron, features a star-studded lineup of young stars on the rise. The RZA will be played by Ashton Sanders, who had a breakout role with Moonlight and turned heads earlier this year with HBO’s adaptation of Native Son. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star Shameik Moore takes on the coveted role of Raekwon, meanwhile new age rappers Joey Bada$$ and Dave East will pay homage to their OGs by starring as Inspectah Deck and Method Man, respectively. The show was co-created and written by Alex Tse and The RZA, with Meth signed on to executive produce the project. According to the show’s official IMDb page, it looks like two actors will also be playing the roles of fellow rap legends Eric B. & Rakim, so definitely expect a few surprises to pop up throughout the series. We can’t wait!

Check out the trailer for ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga‘ above, and expect the series to premiere starting September 4 exclusively on Hulu.
