Tamera Mowry-Housley made an emotional return to The Real after her niece Alaina Housley was among those who were killed in the Thousand Oaks Massacre two weeks ago. She opened up to her co-host, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Adrienne Bailon about her feelings about losing her niece.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact that she is not here with me or with our family,” Mowry said. “She would want me to move forward and to use her voice as a catalyst for change and that’s why I’m here today. I don’t care if I have to knock on the doors of the White House to do it, to advocate change.”
Mowry then went on to describe her niece as “sweet, loving, kind, and a debater.”
The Thousand Oaks Massacre is a mass shooting that took place at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. On November 7, 2018. The suspected gunman, David Long used a .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol firing more than 50 rounds. The shooting claimed the lives of 12 people.
The nation is trying to wrap their minds around the senseless shooting at the Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks. The tragedy hit close to home as one of the victims is related to millennial darlings, Tia and Tamera Mowry from the hit 90s series, Sister, Sister.
The 18-year-old niece of Tamera Mowry-Housely and her husband Adam was one of the 12 left dead late Wednesday evening in the California shooting.
In a statement issued to USA TODAY on behalf of family, the couple expressed their pain:
“Our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks,” the couple stated via their joint representative, Chantal Artur. “Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”
Our prayers go out to all those impacted by this senseless gun violence.
The cast of the hit show The Real appeared on The Breakfast Club recently, and while everyone thought that the bombs dropped about Tamar Braxton and her ex-Vincent Herbert would be the highlights of the interview, it was Angela Yee’s last minute “Girl Chat” question that made people run for a bottle of olive oil.
Yee shares that she read an article in the New York Post that said “one of the best things you can do for couples therapy is to watch porn together.” Since the only two married women on the show are Tamera Mowry-Housely and Adrienne Bailon Houghton, the questions plopped right in their prayer lap-cloth!
Let’s first get this out of the way: Both Tamera and Adrienne are good Christian girls. Tamera regularly uses her Instagram to express her faith and to celebrate her God. Adrienne, while not as demonstrative, is married to award-winning singer, producer and gospel songwriter Israel Houghton (He is like best friends with Peter, Paul and Mary). So it was surprising when they answered the question so honestly.
Adrienne nonchalantly confessed, “It wouldn’t bother me. My husband is just not into porn.” She shared while watching a little smoker flick does nothing for the pastor (that’s what Charlamagne Tha God called him), she personally does not mind watching porn. Honestly, while we love the woman the she has grown into, we know her from her days in 3LW, as a Cheetah Girl and the girlfriend of Rob Kardashian. We were not shock and actually appreciate that she is honest about watching, even as she watched on her cell phone.
Everyone was holding their breath to hear what Tamera had to say, particularly considering her very robust faith walk and family influence. And she too was honest… to honest for fans who remember her in the hit TV show, Sister, Sister.
Tamera declared to a choir of gasps and giggles, that she’s actually watched porn before. She said, “People probably think I haven’t. They think I am naive in that sense.” Her biggest turn off was that the actors’ bodies in the films did not look like hers. There was a disconnect in the fantasy for her. But thank you Adrienne for offering some helpful tips, “You got to watch ‘amateur.’”
It was all in good fun that the ladies were able to give us a little peek into their lives. Maybe too much. As the conversations drew to a close, the question about Tamera’s sex life came to the table and co-host Jeannie Mai came to her hosting sister’s defense by sharing few private details about the twin’s husband. Mai says as she claps, “And Adam… good job!”
The Real is an American talk show, which is hosted by Lonie Love, Adrienne Bailon Houghton, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housely. They are currently in their 5th season.
