YG follows his “FTP” single with “Swag,” this one comes with a video that sees the California rapper dressed as Colin Kaepernick.
The idea opens with dancing children and YG with red hair and a fancy car. The frame then switches to the Kaep scene for his kneeling moment.
It’s been a busy couple of months for YG, the rapper dropped a video for the “FTP” single but then also appeared on the reload of “Fight the Power” alongside Public Enemy, Nas, Questlove, and Rapsody.
In a radio interview on Thursday, YG said that he won’t work with Nicki Minaj anymore after doing a feature on a Tekashi 6ix9ine record. The Bompton street rapper told Radio Host Bootleg Kev, “my feeling were hurt” by Nicki working with the rapper turned informant.
6ix9ine and Nicki recently dropped the single “Trollz” Tekashi’s second release since getting out of jail. The single went number 1 on the Billboard Charts in its debut week.
YG and 6ix9ine had beef prior to the Brooklyn rapper snitching on his crew. After Tekashi threw dirt on L.A. gang culture ignoring street rules and beefing with any rapper who had something to say, YG declared “f–k 6ix9ine” thus starting an online war between the two artists.
YG had previously worked with Nicki on the single “Big Bank” from YG’s Stay Dangerous LP, but said on Thursday that he wouldn’t do it again. “My feelings was hurt. I’m a real street n**ga,” YG said in the interview seeming hesitant to address it how he wanted to.
After Kev followed up to confirm he wouldn’t do another Nicki feature the rapper said, “Yeah, I’m cool.” The Shade Room reposted a clip from the interview and 6ix9ine responded in the comments.
“Smh Damn Nicki u done messed up big time,” 6ix9ine said in TSR’s comment section. Nicki Minaj has not yet responded to YG’s comment.
This news comes as YG drops his new single “Swag” that dropped at midnight on Friday.
