G-Unit’s Tony Yayo Co-Signs Dave East’s SURVIVAL Album: “Back From Overseas”

Tony Yayo

New York rapper Tony Yayo is feeling some true Big Apple vibes right now. The hip-hop artist has come through with a salute and co-sign to Dave East‘s newly released Survival album.

Last night, the “Talk of New York” went to Instagram to show his support for the LP.

According to reports, East’s studio effort debuted just outside of the Top 10.

Other key new releases included Lil Mosey’s Certified Hitmaker (Mogul Vision/Interscope), which scores the second-biggest bow with more than 23k at #11, and Dave East’s Survival (Mass Appeal/Def Jam), which appears at #13 with upwards of 22k. And Kemosabe/RCA newcomer Doja Cat rounds out the Top 20 with her Hot Pink; that earns more than 18k. (HITS Daily Double)

Back in 2016, East signed a record contract with Def Jam following an initial deal with rap veteran Nas‘ Mass Appeal Records.

In the summer of 2014, East signed to Nas’ Mass Appeal. With the label, he released Hate Me Now and Kairi Chanel, both essential pillars in his discography. Two years later, in 2016, East saw an opportunity to take another step forward, partnering with Def Jam for the release of his debut album. But instead of delivering his official introductory project, East released two entries in his Karma mixtape series, an EP entitled Paranoia: A True Story, and Beloved, a collaborative project with fellow New York emcee Styles P. (DJ Booth)

A few years ago, East explained his motivation for signing with Def Jam.

“People don’t get signed by Def Jam every day on my block,” he relates. “I wouldn’t tell nobody to sign no slave deal or sign your life away or nothing like that, but if the deal is right and if it benefits you, you’d be a fool if you did not take advantage of it.” (Billboard)

The rumor mill is heating up in a major way this weekend. New reports claim rap artist Dave East could possibly get dropped by Def Jam Recordings over the retail performance of his newly released Survival album.

According to a Hip Hop Overload report, East’s opening week numbers could allegedly seal his fate at the iconic record label.

Earlier this week, reports claimed East’s new album sold around 3,000 units in its first 7 days.

Back in 2016, East signed a record contract with Def Jam following an initial deal with rap veteran Nas‘ Mass Appeal Records.

Dave East Reveals Kodak Black Was Removed From ‘Survival’ Album Following Lauren London Controversy

Dave East has a song on his upcoming album, Survival featuring Lil Baby called “Night Shift.” It was produced by Murda Beatz and caters to the young Hip Hop listeners who enjoy trap-infused sounds. So it made sense when Dave East revealed that Kodak Black was featured on it. However, Kodak was removed from the track following his disrespectful remarks about Lauren London.

Less than a week after the actress’ lover, Nipsey Hussle, was gunned down, the Florida rapper went on Instagram live insinuating that he wants to step up to take the father of her child’s place. “Lauren London, that baby, though. She about to be out here single,” Black says, as Hussle’s music plays in the background. “I’ll be the best man I can be for her. I’ll give her a whole year. She might need a whole year to be crying and (expletive) for (Hussle).

“I ain’t trying to shoot (my shot) at her … I’m saying, listen. She can do two, three years. I’ll try to be like the friend if you need to holler or a shoulder to lean on. She can call my line.”

A lot of people publicly slammed Kodak’s controversial live recording including T.I., The Game, and Los Angeles Power 106 who pledged to ban the “Tunnel Vision” rapper’s music from the radio. Although East didn’t publicly defend his late friend’s girlfriend, he rode for him in another way.

He admitted that his peers told him that a collaboration with Lil Baby and Kodak Black on his album would do good for his sales, but that’s not the proper way to continue the marathon.

During the session, Dave also mentioned that Nipsey was supposed to be featured on the song “Penthouse” but unfortunately, they didn’t get the time to do it before his untimely passing. But he was able to get the beat and keep Nipsey’s vocals in the background, with his family’s approval.

We got the scoop at a private in-studio listening session on Monday evening and we had the pleasure of getting a first-listen to the project and it’s lit.

New York Hip Hop lovers will really enjoy the 18-project which features Teyana Taylor, The-Dream, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Jacquees, E-40, Lil Baby, Max B and Trey Songz. The Harlem rapper showcases his versatility and lyrical prowess on every song as he takes his fans on a journey through survival in New York before he became a famous rapper.

Dave East’s studio debut is out now. How are y’all feeling it?

Goodz Drops First Single From Upcoming EP “Real” Featuring Dave East

Goodz and Dave East were in the studio not too long ago, and the product of that studio session seems to be this new single “Real” that the battle rapper dropped off on Friday. The two NYC lyricists have back to back verses giving listeners bars that we’ve come to expect from the street rappers.

“Before I let my mind, I let my pen lose it// work it out through a song like gym music,” Goodz raps on the song. This new track is Goodz first single from his upcoming EP No Weirdos dropping on Black Friday.

“I ain’t Frank White I won’t claim the king of NY n—a// I still talk to Nip in my sleep ain’t think you would die n—a,” Dave East raps on his verse. Dave just wrapped up a project of his own, his debut album, Survival. The album drops on November 8th.

When we saw Goodz in the studio with Dave East, it was following Goodz battle on SMACK/URL against Cassidy. The two artists roasted Cassidy for his poor performance although Cassidy claims that he won the battle. In the video, reposted by 15 minutes of fame, Dave East calls Cassidy delusional for thinking he won 5,000 battles in his life.
