Salt-N-Pepa Make History: First Female Rappers to Have Their Own Action Figures

Salt-N-Pepa Make History: First Female Rappers to Have Their Own Action Figures

Salt-N-Pepa, the iconic rap trio known for their groundbreaking contributions to music and culture, has once again made history.

This time, they’ve become the first female rappers to have their action figures. The announcement has sent ripples of excitement through the music industry and beyond, marking a significant milestone in the recognition of women in hip-hop.

The journey of Salt-N-Pepa, consisting of Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and DJ Spinderella, began in the late 1980s. With hits like “Push It,” “Shoop,” and “Let’s Talk About Sex,” they revolutionized the rap scene, challenging stereotypes and empowering women with their bold lyrics and infectious beats. Their impact extended far beyond music, influencing fashion, feminism, and pop culture.

Now, decades after their rise to fame, Salt-N-Pepa’s legacy continues to resonate. The unveiling of their action figures represents a recognition of their enduring influence and cultural significance. These figurines capture the essence of the group, from their distinctive fashion sense to their dynamic stage presence, immortalizing them in plastic form.

The importance of Salt-N-Pepa’s action figures goes beyond mere representation. They serve as symbols of empowerment for women and girls everywhere, reaffirming that women belong in the male-dominated realm of hip-hop and that their contributions deserve recognition. By breaking new ground as the first female rapper with action figures, Salt-N-Pepa paved the way for future generations of female artists to claim their rightful place in the industry.

Furthermore, the release of these action figures highlights the growing demand for diverse and inclusive representation in toy culture. For too long, action figures have predominantly featured male characters, perpetuating narrow stereotypes and limiting children’s imaginations. Salt-N-Pepa’s presence in action figures challenges these norms, offering a more inclusive range of role models for young fans to look up to.

In addition to their cultural significance, the release of Salt-N-Pepa’s action figures is a testament to the group’s enduring popularity. Despite decades in the industry, their music resonates with audiences old and new, proving that true talent transcends generations. These action figures serve as both a celebration of their past achievements and a reminder of their ongoing relevance in contemporary culture.

Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa Sues Doctor for Botched Butt Job

Salt N Pepas Pepa Sues Doctor for Botched Butt Job

Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa was involved in a car accident in July 2018 which caused the biopolymer implants she previously had in her butt and hips to shift.

So she visited Dr. David Sayah who reportedly talked her into three different procedures.

According to the lawsuit, the rap icon, born Sandra Denton, was referred to Dr. Sayah to remove the implants. Instead she alleges that he convinced her to do multiple corrective surgeries which left her with a hard bottom.

The veteran rapper finally removed the implants in February 2020 but she later found out he left a “large amount of biopolymer silicone and dead scar tissue” behind.

Pepa is suing for an undisclosed amount because she’s suffering from life-long injuries and will continue to need surgery.

This news comes after Lifetime announces the date for the highly-anticipated Salt-N-Pepa biopic. The self-titled film is co-produced by Queen Latifah and directed by New Jack City director Mario Van Peeble.

Salt-N-Pepa are down a tour manager. Tommaso Giuseppe, who worked with the group for years, even while Spinderella was down, has quit, citing a “difference in views.”

“I have worked really hard for the brand during my time working with Salt N Pepa …” Giuseppe said in a statement as reported by Page Six. “At the time of my decision, the team and I had a difference in views and therefore, we have determined it is mutually beneficial that I pursue other projects. I was allowed to relinquish my duties with the group.”

He added, “We had a lot of fun and great memories together. Regardless of my decision to leave, I will always cherish them.”

Most recently, Giuseppe served a tour manager for Salt-N-Pepa and Naughty By Nature during the New Kids on the Block’s 2019 Mixtape Tour. He will continue with said duties for the latter.

Recently, DJ Spinderella announced her not so amicable split from the Queens rap group. She’s suing the group for allegedly unpaid royalties.

Salt-N-Pepa Respond To Spinderella’s Lawsuit, Claim It’s A “Smear” Campaign

Salt n Peppa Visit "Extra"

First the Fat Boys breakup, then The Fugees breakup, and now DJ Spinderella got drama with Salt-N-Pepa?!

It’s been a few weeks since DJ Spinderella sued her old rap group for unpaid royalties for spinning at some of their tour dates and appearing on their reality show. After responding to the lawsuit by stating they never stiffed their former DJ, Salt and Pepa went on to claim they did nothing but try to help a struggling Spinderella at her request.

In documents obtained by The Blast, Cheryl James (Salt) and Sandra Denton (Pepa) stated that Deidra Roper (Spinderella) reached out to them for work only to turn around and accuse them of being shady.

“After decades of friendship, Spinderella has embarked on a smear campaign, and sued her friends, based on blatantly erroneous assertions. The truth, however, is that Salt and Pepa have always tried to do right by Spinderella.”

According to the rap duo after years of going their separate ways, Spinderella asked to once again ride with the “Push It” rappers and they obliged.

“Spinderella decided to quit performing with Salt and Pepa years ago and asked to rejoin the group “Salt N Pepa” in December, 2013. Nostalgia and the desire to help a friend motivated Salt and Pepa to agree. They offered to pay Spinderella on a per show basis to perform with the group. Spinderella, grateful for the opportunity, agreed, and they performed together again.”

But things didn’t go as planned and they once again parted ways and ended up in court.

“Things unfortunately did not work out and Salt-N-Pepa spent months trying to close open issues—like how they would each refer to their shared history going forward as they each pursued respective careers—in the hope they could part as friends.”

This is just a sad situation all around. How things will end is anyone’s guess but we’re pretty sure that after a lawsuit like this chances of a reunion tour are slim to none.
