Truth connects with Q-Boro rap governor, Royal Flush for their funky, head-nodding new banger, “Queens Carnivores.” The track pays homage to the borough that raised both emcees because, as Truth says, “I owe it to Queens to help in some way for keeping tradition alive!”
Directed by Los of Classic Material NY and edited by 40oz Productions, the video serves as the official debut leak taken from Truth’s forthcoming new project, Nostalgia ThEraPy, which serves as a follow-up to 2022’s All Intents and Purposes LP, both of which are produced by the legendary production duo, Da Beatminerz. “It’s the type of boom-bap hip-hop that resonates with the true heads” says Truth, but with his own twist on it. The end result is an authentic and creative take on a sound that Truth feels indebted to.
Truth and Da Beatminerz have once again created something truly special here, which we can all discover once Nostalgia ThEraPy hits all major digital retailers and streaming platforms on January 11th, via Animal Military Records. The nine track project — which also boasts guest appearances by Al Skratch and Kurious — can be purchased now for pre-order through all major DSPs, with “Queens Carnivores” available for stream and instant-grat.
Queens, New York MC Truth has been rapping for more than half of his life and is influenced by the likes of Mobb Deep, Run-D.M.C., Nas, Kool G. Large Pro’s take also includes cuts from Rocksteady Crew’s own DJ JS-1. “TNT” takes listeners back to the essence, while JS-1’s creates a hook by mixing quotes from D.M.C., Q-Tip, LL Cool J, and Havoc.
