We are extremely excited to have featured your latest album “Palm Over Fist” , being an artist we never of heard before this, please tell us who is Palabra?
It means “Word” in spanish but also is used to give someone reassurance or a confirmation of what is being promised.
Like, “Don’t trip I’ll be there, palabra.” So part of it is giving people that inspiration when they have doubts or going through struggles.
“la palabra” also means the word of God in the theological context I’m a firm believer in Christ but I’m not trying to shove Jesus down your throat. The word says that he is a gentleman,he knocks on the door of your heart and if YOU open it he will enter.
The way I try to sum it up is: “I’m not the perfect man God has sent, I’m just the noun and the verb that God has said”
Where part of LA are you from?
I’m from South Central.
How did you hear about UGHHBOLOG?
Saw some posts in IG and saw the freestyles with your guys’ banner and thought it was dope you guys were creating a lane for Underground/unsigned artists.
We notice your style is super original and very creative. Let us know how your style if different than all the rap artists out there!
I’m still developing and I know there’s still work to be done, but where I’m trying to be different is in my raw approach, relying on my passion, my agresssion and giving people the tough love mentality.
I’m in the business of spiritual warfare and so I hope to give people the soundtrack in the battles they are going through to inspire them in bringing their victory into reality.
ROLLING LOUD!!! Seems to be the one Festival all artists want to be a part of!! Any plans on getting on a festival on that scale?
Well I’m down for anything but in all honesty, I haven’t networked as much as I need to. I think I can’t just expect to be put onto someone’s show if I haven’t been supporting them in someway shape or form. It’s something I’m working on.
Are you touring this 2019 year?
This year I’ve performed in Bellflower and in San Ysidro. I’m looking to continue going to one spot at least each month so let’s see if I can maintain that trend. Hopefully increase it.
Let us know about the creative process behind your new album “Palm Over Fist”, and plans on shooting more videos for any of the tracks?
So the tracks I had for a minute. Thought of releasing them as singles but realized they all had a common theme so I invested some time and money in making it sound more cohesive. I want to shoot one more music video and I have a lyric video in the works. Caught between “The Silence that Becomes the Prayer” and “They Don’t Know”
When are you planning on dropping another project?
This summer I got something in the works called Imperfect.
Being a LA-based artist, are there any Hip Hop influences you have in the underground game that is based out of LA?
In the underground game, not really. I’m inspired when I see what alot of the guys are doing on your page but no one specific has caught my eye yet.
How does social media playing a role in your success? How are fans/supporters helping your movement?
It’s minimal right now. I get some love now and then but I have to expand my connection with people plus just make more music, period.
With this being an underground hip hop site, we always ask this important question. What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?
I think Underground Hip hop is the raw expression of urban music, unfiltered not necessarily in expletives but moreso unhindered by mainstream stereotypes or mainstream expectations.
