With his year bid for tax evasion out the way, DMX’s future is looking bright with expected arrival of new music.
The vet rapper sat down with Big Boy on Tuesday and they discussed the current state of rap. X agreed with the Real 92.3 host that rap is being misrepresented by the creators, but the resolution is a shared responsibility.
“Whoever can, not just myself,” he said. “But whoever has the ability to, first, the insight to see it and the talent and the ability to, you know, do the right thing. It’s all of our responsibility.”
DMX also agreed that a certain type of artist is being over saturated, but he also criticized the lyrical content. “They’re all promoting drug use,” he said. “If that’s what you wanna do, that’s your business, but you ain’t gotta promote it like it’s cool and make it cool.”
X also spoke about religion and recently being released from prison. The full interview will be out shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the clips.
