Virgil Abloh is the latest person on the cancel block because he was tight-lipped in regards to the death of George Floyd, but was vocal about the looting.
To add fuel to the fire, he posted a screenshot of a $50 donation he made towards a bail fund and Black Twitter dragged him to and from the sunken place.
The Off-White designer apologized for his comments about the protests because it gave the impression that his “concern for those stores outweighed my concern for our right to protest injustice and express our anger and rage in this moment.”
“Buildings are brick and mortar and material things can be replaced, people can’t. Black lives matter. In this moment, those other things don’t,” he wrote. “People who criticize ‘looting’ often do also as way to make it seem like our fight against injustice isn’t legitimate. I did not realize the ways my comments accidentally contributed to that narrative. As mentioned yesterday, if looting eases pains nd further the overall mission, it is within good standing with me.”
Virgil took the time out to explain his $50 donation and made it be known that he actually donated $20,500 to bail funds in a matter-of-fact moment. I can understand your frustration if you think my contributions were limited to $50. purely false when it comes to the total. I have donated $20,500 to bail funds and other causes related to this movement.”

Right now he is taking it easy on copping new items but plans to do the most once the lock down is past us.

Additionally he makes it clear he is not a Air Jordan fan but can appreciate the Off-White colorways.
Whenever Jordan or Nike releases a Virgil Abloh OFF-WHITE remixed sneaker silhouette, hypebeasts go bananas and get prepared to cut all kinds of throats in order to obtain a pair or two. Prepare for a Purge kind of frenzy come this summer.
After re-imagining classics such as the Air Jordan 1 and more recently Air Jordan 5’s, it’s being said that this summer Jordan will be releasing the long-rumored Off-White Air Jordan 4 and in the highly sought after “Bred” colorway.
Aw man. Y’all already know these particular L’s are going to hurt come release day. The sneakers originally made their debut last summer when an unreleased collection of OFF-WHITE Nikes and Jordans when Abloh teamed up with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago to display some exclusive pieces including the OFF-WHITE Jordan 4’s and some Canary Yellow Air Jordan 1’s (heads is dying for those to drop).
Now that the cream versions of Virgil’s Air Jordan 4’s are set to drop later this Spring in Womens sizes (y’all know men are gonna be rocking those regardless), it’s only right that the Bred colorway release for the day one heads.
Unfortunately, these exclusive OFF-WHITE collaborations tend to be extremely limited to anywhere from tens of thousands to a few hundreds of thousands of pairs. Add that to the fact that these will more than likely be sold via in-store and online raffles, and your chances for obtaining a big fat “L” on release day becomes that much more evident.
Still, we’re gonna try.
Peep the on-feet pic of the kicks below and let us know if you’ll be trying your luck to get ’em come summer 2020.
It seems Virgil Abloh’s golden touch isn’t dimming down anytime soon. The data shows that his luxury wears were the most sought after during the holiday season.
Hypebeast is reporting Off-White has held on as the “Hottest Brand” in the fashion industry. According to Lyst Index the luxury apparel company was the most hunted for by online consumers. Their reporting attributes their dominance during holidays due to their new logo that was unveiled on Instagram, a new brick and mortar Miami retail location and the buzz garnered from Hailey Bieber’s wedding dress.
Rounding out the top five in numerical order is Gucci (who climbed up a slot from their previous position at three), Balenciaga (who traded places with Gucci), Moncler (who jumped 11 spots this report) and Versace. Other noted labels who saw sizable jumps quarter over quarter Canada Goose (#32 to #18), Dr Martens (#31 to #19) and YEEZY (#25 to #16).
To compile the results, global fashion search platform Lyst analyses the online shopping behavior of more than nine million shoppers a month searching, browsing and buying fashion across 12,000 designers and stores online. The formula behind The Lyst Index takes into account global Lyst and Google search data, conversion rates and sales, as well as brand and product social media mentions and engagement statistics worldwide over a three month period.
While Virgil Abloh remains the hottest name in the design the celebrity has come with a lot of criticism. Within the last year he has been accused of style thievery and not driving enough diversity within the Off-White staff.

Late in the summer pictures of Virgil Abloh‘s latest creation hit the web in the form of some remixed Off-White Nike Dunk Low‘s that had the internet going nuts like Paul Wall in his heyday.
Rumored to drop sometime this month, Stadium Goods posted a crystal clear picture of what the “University Red” colorway looks like up close and while these ain’t for everybody, they’re still part of the Off-White collection so best believe they’ll be reselling for a grip.
Featuring a North Face bookbag like lacing over the base and it’s signature zip tie accessory on the side, these Dunks are definitely bound to stand out on anyone walking around in them. The two other colorways set to drop with these are some “Pine/Green” and “Gold/Navy” joints that’s sure to be hits in Boston and Michigan respectively.
The Off-White x Nike Dunk Lows are set to retail at $170 when they drop some time this month but expect to pay at least double when you certainly take that dreaded “L” that’s become a common feeling when limited releases like these drop.
Chances are that lovers of streetwear will be acting even more brand new next year. One of their most beloved lines has updated their branding.

Hypebeast is reporting that Off-White has changed their logo as seen at their recent Spring 2020 fashion show. The new graphic splits the name in half with a face in between with a hand under each word. While Virgil Abloh hasn’t exactly detailed why the switch was made the website theorizes the move was done to deter other companies from shark biting. Earlier this year it was reported Abloh’s legal team filed paperwork against Amazon and Zumiez for hawking products with similar signature block quotes.
The new Off-White logo will be first made available via a set of new tees. Available in both male and female cuts, the black top features the new identity on both the front and back. You can see more of the Spring 2020 show below.
It seems the pressures of dropping winning collections quarter over quarter have gotten to one of fashion’s brightest stars. Virgil Abloh is taking a breather during one of the industry’s biggest moments.
Page Sixis reporting that man behind OFF-WHITE will not be attending New York Fashion Week. Abloh detailed his decision in a recent interview with Vogue Magazine. “I’m shifting gears,” he revealed when explaining that he noticed in August all the international travel was starting to take a wear on his body. Naturally he went to the doctor and they prescribed him some much needed downtime.
“I was just tired, so I went to the doctor. Ultimately, everything is fine, but the doctor told me ‘this pace that you’ve sort of pushed your body — to fly all these miles, do all these different projects — is not good for your health.’”
But hypebeasts should not be alarmed as the Chicago native plans to continue working; but remotely. “Essentially I’m working from home for the next three months, and in large part all my marketing events I’m cancelling” he explained.
While he will no be at NYFW in person he feels his vision will be brought to life as he expected for both labels. “My Off-White team is equipped to handle this, and my Louis Vuitton team is expert-level. The shows will go on.”
In closing he made it clear that his zen approach is going to keep him on his path regardless of where he is stationed. “Being busy isn’t working. But I’m using this as I do everything else, as a way to propel me forward.”
