Facebook and Instagram took measures to ban Min. Louis Farrakhan from its social media services, lumping him with a pair of Right-Wing extremists who also were banned. Joining Farrakhan on the outs with FB and IG are Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos.

Politico reports:

Facebook Thursday banned from its flagship social network and its subsidiary Instagram the Infowars site and its leader Alex Jones, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, saying their presence on the sites violated its policies against dangerous individuals and organizations.

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. “The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”

Facebook last August cited violations of community standards in removing pages belonging to Jones and Infowars, notorious for peddling unfounded conspiracy theories. The action came amid a flurry of suspensions and content take-downs for Jones and Infowars, which were also booted from Google-owned YouTube, Twitter and other platforms.

The outlet adds that the services also banned Infowars contributor and “New Right” advocate Paul Joseph Watson, and right-wing activist Laura Loomer.

In 2018, Facebook removed a video of Farrakhan referring to Jews as “termites.”

Chicago Women’s March Canceled Over Ties To NOI, Louis Farrakhan

The upcoming annual Chicago Women’s March has been canceled in light of national Women’s March co-president and board member Tamika Mallory’s ties with the Nation of Islam and Min. Louis Farrakhan according to local reports. Mallory recently attended the Nation Of Islam’s Saviour’s Day celebration where Farrakhan reportedly made comments about the Jewish community among other statements.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:

The annual January march in Chicago, which drew thousands of people to Grant Park the last two years, was nixed by organizers who cited high costs and limited volunteers.

But the announcement came after the Chicago chapter condemned and distanced itself the national Women’s March leadership for its ties to anti-Semitic and anti-LGBTQ statements from Minister Louis Farrakhan of the National of Islam.

The national group faced backlash earlier this year when co-president Tamika Mallory attended the Nation of Islam’s annual Savior’s Day gathering in Chicago, during which Farrahkan made inflammatory statements about “powerful Jews” he considered enemies.

Mallory later denounced the anti-Semitic comments, but said she had been attending the annual event since childhood after she received help from the Nation of Islam when she was in need.

While the march is off, a weekend gathering celebrating the anniversary of the event will take place on Jan. 19, 2018.

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan has been on the hot seat in times past for views that many have deemed as anti-Semitic. Facebook recently took down a video where Farrakhan is heard referring to Jewish people as “termites” although the video still exists on Twitter so far.

Deadline reports:

The video was removed because of its violation of the Terms of Service. The video is still posted on Twitter, which, so far, has not removed it.

In the video, Farrakhan claims that he is not an anti-Semite, as some critics contend. Rather, he says that he is “anti-termite.”

“So when they talk about Farrakhan, call me a hater, call me anti-Semite. Stop it. I’m anti-Termite. I don’t know nothing about hating somebody because of their religious preference,” Farrakhan claimed in the video.

Farrakhan was most recently in the mainstream news when he appeared on stage as an honored guest at Aretha Franklin’s funeral. He was joined by former President Bill Clinton, among others.

The video can be viewed below, for now.
