Drake is being criticized by ATL Hip-Hop pioneer Jermaine Dupri for not attending the historic LilWeezyAna Festival honoring Lil Wayne in New Orleans over the weekend.

Dupri let Drake feel the heat after the festival, but Drizzy was tied up courtside at the Toronto Raptors game.

Dupri wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “This is amazing !! Southern HipHop at its best,” before adding: “I cant believe drake missed that, couldn’t have been me.” The So So Def founder then added, “Pardon me for getting excited about the amazing show they just had, ima HipHop nigga and this was a moment.”

Dupri was referring to the monumental reunion of all the Hot Boys members, including Turk, B.G., Mannie Fresh, and Juvenile. This was the first time all Hot Boys were on stage together in over 25 years.

Cash Money head honcho Birdman and in-house producer Mannie Fresh joined the crew on stage to perform “I Need a Hot Girl,” sealing the Cash Money reunion after decades of feuding and legal issues.

To cap off the historic moment, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOLA rap legend Master P gave Weezy his own day and the key to the City of New Orleans.

On this date twenty five years ago, Dwayne Carter Jr. set out on his solo musical journey and dropped his first album The Block Is Hot on the Cash Money/Universal imprint. With in-house production exclusively from the one and only Mannie Fresh and executive production from Baby and Slim, Wayne’s debut set him out towards having legendarily anticipated debuts like The Carter series being possibly the best rapper of this generation.

Lead singles such as ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot”, which features Mannie Fresh and B.G., and the album’s title track introduced Wayne as Cash Money’s young gunner, who was already recording his major-label solo debut at the tender age of 16. The entire 17 track gem was certified platinum by the RIAA in less than two months of its release and is now a certified platinum album worldwide.

Salute to Mr. Carter, Baby, Slim, Fresh, B.G., Turk, Juvy, and the rest of the CMB for making this album a piece of Hip Hop history!

Flau’jae delivers an electrifying freestyle over Tommy Richman’s hit track “Million Dollar Baby,” showcasing her infectious flow. Her hard-hitting bars take center stage, proving once again why she’s a force to be reckoned with in the rap game. Fans are buzzing as Flau’jae’s effortless lyrical mastery continues to impress, making this must-hear.

Previously, fast-rising Flauge Entertainment/ROC Nation distribution Hip Hop recording artist, lyricist, songwriter, and NCAA women’s basketball champion Flau’jae continued serving heat off her summer 2024 debut EP “Best of Both Worlds,” with the music video premiere for her scorching collaborative single “Came Out A Beast,” featuring multi-platinum legend Lil Wayne.

Flau’jae, with her skillfully honed and proven pen game on full display, trades bars with Lil Wayne over the Dolla Baby-produced track as effortlessly as she collects wins on the court. Directed by Terrius Mykel, the energy-packed music video brilliantly captures the on-go lyrical synergy between both her and Lil Wayne on the track and on the video set. “Working with Lil Wayne on the ‘Came Out A Beast’ video was a dream come true.” Says Flau’jae. “He’s a legend in the game, and being able to collaborate with him on this track was surreal. The energy on set was incredible, and we both brought that fire to the video. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve created.”

With volleying scenes of her making plays as a musician and an athlete, the video gives a courtside view of Flau’Jae in the game of achieving in music and sports while ignoring detractors as she continues along her path to legendary greatness.

Today In Hip Hop History: Kanye West Dropped His Third LP ‘Graduation’ 17 Years Ago

tumblr e7f716743cceb85ca97a1f583c82bbd7 bb9a6bd6 1280

On this day in 2007, the “old” Kanye released his third studio album, the last of his scholastically themed albums, which is aptly titled Graduation on the Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella imprint.

With the success of his The College Dropout debut and his sophomore Late Registration, Kanye was already on an unprecedented ascension that popular culture was unprepared for. The concurrent releases of 50 Cent’s Curtis album and Graduation also created a unique promotion of both projects. However, with West as the newer “rookie” artist, he was the favored underdog in the competition between the two. Graduation was the obvious winner in terms of sales, selling almost a half-million copies on its first day on the shelves.

Graduation offered several smash singles that gave Ye’ propelling momentum beyond his musical peers and set him well above the rest. Songs like “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” “Stronger,” and “Good Life” with T-Pain on the help-out made 2007 probably the best year of Kanye’s career. Aside from the fact that Graduation earned Kanye a Grammy and an AMA, this last installation of his tetralogy served as the last piece of happiness before tragedy struck when Ms. Donda West passed away from coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as consequence of liposuction and mammoplasty just two months later.

Salute to Yeezy, DJ Premier, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, and everyone involved in the Graduation album. Definitely an essential piece of Hip Hop history!

SOURCE SPORTS: Fans Suggest That Lil Wayne Is Better Fit Than Kendrick Lamar For Super Bowl LIX In NOLA

Lil Wayne Says Today's Music 'Lacks Some Creativity'

It was announced yesterday that Kendrick Lamar would be taking the stage for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, but some fans and other celebrities believe that one star from NOLA should’ve been the top pick for the NFL’s biggest gig of the year.

Even though K Dot took the stage for Super Bowl LVi alongside rap stars such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent, many believe that Weezy should’ve been offered the headlining spot for the biggest sports event of the year.

Culture critic DJ Akademiks argued that Kendrick is undoubtedly a great artist, but Super Bowl 61 should be in Lamar’s hometown, and the NFL could’ve waited two years to put him on center stage. Another New Orleans legend, Master P, saluted Kendrick as an artist and questioned why the Hot Boys superstar wasn’t chosen to perform in his hometown.

No one is saying Kendrick doesn’t deserve to make it on the Super Bow halftime stage, but many people on social media echo the same sentiments. There is still a possibility that Wayne might take the stage with Kendrick, being that they have “Mona Lisa” on “Tha Carter V” together, but it doesn’t seem satisfactory to Wayne fans or NOLA natives.

Do YOU think Wayne should perform at the Super Bowl instead of Kendrick?

Lil Wayne’s Old Rhyme Book Up For Sale For $5M

Lil Wayne To Be Honored With BMI Icon Award at 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards

Some lucky Hip Hop fan may just come up on a piece of Cash Money Records history as the controversial rhyme book of YMCMB boss Lil Wayne has recently been put up for sale with a hefty $5 million price tag.

Moments In Time, a popular online memorabilia site, has been fighting legal battles for years over Tunechi’s book of rhymes, which dates back to his days with the Hot Boys in the 90s.

MIT initially attempted to sell the book back in 2019 for a man who says he found the book of handwritten rhymes in a car that used to belong to Cash Money, but as soon as it was listed for sale, MIT got a letter from Wayne’s camp ordering to cease the sale and return the book.

In February, Judge Kern A. Reese of the Civil District Court of Orleans Parish in Louisiana ruled that Moments In Time did have all legal rights to sell the book, according to a legal document published on the sale page.

The book was initially listed for $250K in 2019 but is now priced at $5,000,000.

DJ Premier Featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross And Big Sean “Ya Don’t Stop”

unnamed 77

Dating back to the end of 2023, DJ Premier has been on a prolific run, releasing singles with Common, Russ, Snoop Dogg, Chance The Rapper and Nas.  When Premier and Nas released “Define My Name,” in April, they also revealed that their long-awaited and landmark collaborative album would be released later this year.

Now, DJ Premier has brought more legends and icons together, or as Rick Ross asserts “It’s the biggest in the game”, as Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Big Sean join him on “Ya Don’t Stop.” Premier’s cyclone of strings sets the stage for Ross, Sean and Wayne’s distinctive styles and vivid storytelling from three of the genre’s most influential artists.

“I’ve been on a run, and releasing singles more consistently.  I had an idea and wanted to initially get Wayne and Ross on the same track” DJ Premier recalled.  “I reached out to Rozay first and he sent me back vocals the same day.  I sent two tracks to Wayne to choose from and he sent both back the same night and told me to keep them both.  Big Sean called me to do a scratch hook for him.  In return, he hopped on as well.  Cipher complete!”
