Urban Aroma, the leading cannabis platform connecting N.Y. and D.C. consumers to cannabis brands, delivery services, and dispensaries that support legalization, social equity, and fair access for all, has appointed John Monopoly as Chief Executive Officer. Monopoly, a music industry and marketing veteran who is known for discovering and managing long-time client Kanye West, will work closely with Urban Aroma Co-Founders M-1 of Dead Prez and artist and filmmaker Umi.

Monopoly, who is also known for his work with Busta, Missy, and many of today’s biggest Chicago artists, has announced he has tapped Mike Epps and is in talks with Styles P and Rakim to host the Urban Aroma NYC summer series that will donate with 25% of sales from the events to their partner organizations including Mission GreenFortune Society, and Beverly Bond’s Black Men Rock.  Urban Aroma’s work with Mission Green is focused on securing the release of those serving time for cannabis-related offenses and putting money on inmates’ books while serving time. With Fortune Society, they focus on helping former and current prisoners create better opportunities for themselves by assisting with education, housing, job-seeking assistance, etc.

With Urban Aroma’s foundation rooted in supporting New Yorkers formerly incarcerated for cannabis and the fight to decriminalize cannabis in D.C., Urban Aroma is at the forefront of driving cannabis policy reform and community-owned businesses, through music, art, activism, education, and social equity in the Northeast, and supporting communities that have been targeted and convicted for their use of cannabis.

“I’ve been watching the amazing work Urban Aroma has been doing, and the foundation they have been laying to ensure the underground origins of the cannabis movement is respected, and will continue to be part of the legacy of the cannabis industry as it continues to grow, both in terms of legalization and accessibility,” said Monopoly. “Our goal is to continue to advocate for change, across both policies and ownership, to ensure our people are represented and in the room at each stage of the growing cannabis industry journey, especially across N.Y. and D.C. We also want to make sure consumers are aware of where they’re spending their dollars, and ensure Urban Aroma is a continued resource for those looking to support and patronize cannabis companies of color, culture, and change.”

Urban Aroma represents the legacy cannabis movement – fighting for a cannabis industry that supports the Black and Brown communities. Visit UrbanAroma.com for more info and follow @urbanaroma_ on IG for updates on the summer series.

‘Nobody’s Home Festival’ Merges Hip-Hop, Cannabis, and Community in Benton Harbor

P9evZ CA

The Village, the largest national conglomerate for black-owned cannabis brands led by former NBA player and entrepreneur Al Harrington, and the NBA’s Wilson Chandler’s Nobody’s Home cannabis brand brought some of today’s brightest Hip-Hop stars to Nobody’s Home Music Festival.

Taking place in the Dwight Mitchell City Center Park, the festival was curated by John Monopoly and brought Rick Ross, G Herbo, Freddie Gibbs, Chase B, Babyface Ray, G.T., and Amiir Perry to the stage.

Nobody’s Home celebrated Chandler’s forthcoming dispensary of the same name. Nobody’s Home is set to open within the next 30 days at 90 W Main St. and will be the first Black dispensary in Benton Harbor. The free festival sustained light rain and welcomed thousands to the festival area.

The festival was a true community experience. Vendors from the area supplied food and security services, and Mayor Marcus Muhammad, visible in a vibrant red suit, was on hand throughout the peaceful celebration. Before the closing performance, Mayor Muhammad took the stage to highlight the importance of the festival being Black-owned, operated, and created for Black people.

The Benton Harbor Festival was infused with a dose of neighboring Chicago as Phli Creator, and PUMA executive Dave Jeff hosted. Power 92 Chicago’s DJ Nephets scored the afternoon and night with sounds ranging from Windy City to Brooklyn drill, a throwback R&B set for the ladies, and new hits from Certified Lover Boy and DONDA.

Following sprinkles of rain, Freddie Gibbs emerged to perform singles from his GRAMMY-nominated album Alfredo. Hitting the stage to “1985,” Gangsta Gibbs would acknowledge the crowd’s reaction to the “GD Anthem” by JGE Rooga before he hit the stage. After the salute, Gibbs worked through “Something to Rap About,” “Look at Me,” among other tracks, before wrapping with “Scottie Beam.”

Following Gibbs, G Herbo would bring a full energy set of new singles and street classics. Herbo touched “Swervo,” the PTSD “Intro,” “I Like,” and even dug deep for “Kill Shit.” Herbo would hop down into the VIP crowd and close with a tribute to the late Juice WRLD.

The Biggest Boss, Rick Ross, would hit the stage to perform a run of catalog spanning hits for a closing set. Rozay would keep the GD energy high with a park, rocking performance of “BMF,” receiving resounding responsive chants of Larry Hoover’s name. Ross would also dive into “MC Hammer,” “The Boss,” “John,” “Hustlin,” and “All I Do Is Win.” Rozay would then be joined by a group of dancers who assisted with performances of “Pop That” and “Bag of Money.”

After Ross closed the festival, the rain would finally arrive in full, thankfully paving for a full festival to be held.

You can catch photos from the day below. Be sure to keep up with Nobody’s Home by visiting their website.

Kanye West Gifted John Monopoly With A Lamborghini For His Birthday

Kanye West Hosts G.O.O.D Music Pre Vma Party - September 7, 2005

Riding with Kanye West, despite all the ups and downs, has its perks. For example, Yeezy recently blessed his old manager John Monopoly with a Lamborghini for his birthday.

Reports TMZ:

Ye blew the doors off all birthday surprises when he showed up to his former manager John Monopoly’s party at Delilah in WeHo Wednesday night with a brand new luxury ride fresh off the lot — a customized 2019 Lamborghini SUV.

John told us the gift was from a “very good guy” and brother of his with whom he goes back 30 years. He’s coy about it, never dropping a name, but it was pretty easy to figure out. Monopoly discovered West and served as his manager for his first 3 albums.

We also got a pic of Kanye after he made the special delivery to confirm the poorly kept secret.

We’re told the customized SUV with the matte-black paint job goes for around $300k … and John says he didn’t even see it coming.

Nowadays, Yeezy is being managed by Scooter Braun.

It’s good to see cats who made it looking out for the people who helped them get there. Respect.
