Jussie Smollett is doing his part by helping spread the word about organizations that are helping people that may be facing domestic violence and people may have health concerns but lack the resources needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a 1:55 video shared to his Instagram, page the former Empire star says that “small black and brown small nonprofit organizations provide services every day” but there are two organizations that are particularly close to his heart, The Jenesse Center and the Black AIDS Institute.

Smollet knows that safety for women and children who are victims of domestic violence is a priority that is why he is supporting The Jenesse Center.

“Women and children are some of the most vulnerable right now, “he says, “The Jenesse Center has been working for years to ensure that victims of domestic violence become survivors of domestic violence through emergency relief housing and care packages.”

Smollett also stresses that we see an increase in domestic violence cases during this time,

” With the hotlines and abuse reports skyrocketing throughout this pandemic we can not turn a blind eye.”

Smollet is also supporting the Black AIDS Institute which he says he has been involved with since he was 15 years old.

“In 2018 we opened a clinic called for us in Leimert Park,” he says.

“It’s literally called the clinic for US. It’s a comprehensive primary health clinic which means you can go there no matter who you are and whatever your health need are including HIV and screening for COVID-19. No one will be turned away because if an inability to pay.”
