‘Game Of Thones’ Spin-Off ‘House of the Dragon’ Coming To HBO

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones fans who are still lamenting over the final season of the hit HBO show might find this news welcoming. During its big HBO Max presentation, the company announced the new spin-off House of the Dragon.

HBO saved the best for last during the presentation revealing the prequel to Thrones will be produced by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal and will be based on Fire & Blood. The show will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Fans will also be elated to learn that Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the “Battle of the Bastards” episode, which is considered by most GOT fans as the best one, will serve as co-showrunner.

He will also be directing the pilot and additional episodes, so that should curb any fears still lingering from the final season. Plus, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will not be attached to this show in any capacity.

When it premieres, we will be getting 10 episodes and will serve as a part of Sapochnik’s overall deal to develop shows for HBO and HBO Max — the company’s new streaming service that will cost $14.99 — when it launches in May 2020. In a statement about HBO programming president, Casey Bloys spoke on the new show stating:

“The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan, and George.”

The announcement of House of the Dragon came on the heels of HBO reportedly shelving another GOT prequel starring Oscar-nominee Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie, and Denise Gough.

In the words of Monique, we would like to see it.

‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Spot a Water Bottle on Screen During Finale

Earlier in this season of Game of Thrones, a Starbucks cup stole the show and was pointed out as one of the many flaws of the conclusion to this epic series. The last episode aired yesterday (May 19) and the coffee was replaced by a bottle of water.

A fan captured a water bottle by the foot of the show’s character Sam. The moment happens in the 46-minute mark of the episode. But that’s not the only one, another bottle can be spotted between two more characters in the following minutes.

Also online in Game of Thrones chatter (spoiler alert), fans are critical to the conclusion of the series. The sixth episode saw Dany killed by Jon Snow, who returned to the wall. Bran took the throne and the seven kingdoms officially become six.

If you would like to chuckle at the reactions to the final episode click here.

Daenerys Goes Mad & Scorched King’s Landing, Twitter Has Thoughts

'Game of Thrones' 'The Bells' Episode Left Twitter Unsatisfied

Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO

Daenerys lived up to her Targaryen lineage in the worst way possible during last night’s penultimate episode of Game of Thrones. The Mother of Dragons went to full Targaryen on their asses turning the once vibrant King’s Landing into a pile of rubble and ash.

Varys tried to warn them, and for his troubles, he got incinerated and used as an example to anyone who even thinks of spreading her secret. Daenerys suffered so many losses on her quests to regain the Iron Throne and finally succumbed to paranoia and the crazy that runs in her family.

Whether you liked it or not, the writers went there sending Daeny the breaker of chains down to the path of madness like the last Targaryen who held the throne. On top of Daenerys and Drogon leveling King’s Landing and damn near killing everyone fans felt cheated they didn’t get to see Cersei catch a severe fade they thought they were promised. Instead, we got a more ironic and at the same time poetic death for Cersei, and her twin lover Jaimie who as far as we know were crushed under the Red Keep by the same castle she boasted would never fall.

As you can imagine GOT fans were Stark (pun intended) raving mad because of “lazy writing” and unsatisfying moments for characters. This Game of Thrones’ fan was very much satisfied, but hey I can’t speak for everyone else. One thing is definitely for sure, everyone will be tuned into season 8 final episode despite their complaints. You can hit the gallery for the hilarious commentary that was a direct result of the glorious mess that was episode 5.

WATCH: SZA, The Weeknd & Travis Scott Release ‘GoT’-Themed “Power Is Power” Music Video

Last night’s staggering Episode 4 of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones officially solidified that this will go down as one of the greatest television shows of all time, with the final two episodes guaranteed to send fans into a collective state of shock. However, yesterday’s airing of “The Last of the Starks” wasn’t the only premiere to come from the fantastical series, as the GoT-themed music video for “Power Is Power” by SZA, The Weeknd and Travis Scott has officially dropped.

Arriving off For the Throne: Music Inspired by the HBO Series Game of Thrones, “Power is Power” sees all three hitmakers channeling a key character going for the Iron Throne in the series. The Weeknd starts things off with a homage to Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen, in addition to the ominous Night King. While we saw the latter meet his fate by way of fan-favorite Arya Stark — a moment that will seriously go down in small-screen history — there’s still a very good chance that Jon will accept his destiny as the rightful king and rise into his true calling. Abel croons “I rise from my scars / Nothing hurts me now / ‘Cause power is power / Now watch me burn it down,” and you cen’t help but think its foreshadowing to a series finale where a resurrected male heir to the Targaryen dynasty takes the Throne.

SZA comes in next, and we see her channeling two queens actually: Daenerys Targaryen, the series’ underdog that fans have been rooting for to claim the royal ranking perceived to be rightfully hers, and also Queen Akasha, the vampire queen played by R&B icon Aaliyah in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned. The latter might be a bit of a stretch, but seeing as the crown Solana wears is almost identical to the one Akasha rocks in the campy flick that would unfortunately be Baby Girl’s last in her lifetime, it could be a slightly-veiled homage from one popular female chanteuse to another that inspired her career. The ode to Dany is quite obvious though, especially through lyrics that might even foreshadow the fate of our former Khaleesi. As she sings, “You wouldn’t take my place / Put me away / I’d die lookin’ up at your face,” and ends her verse with “Only love could kill me,” it’s not hard to assume that a battle between two certain lovers may be the deciding factor on who actually comes out on top.

U tuning in or nah. GOT Tnt 9pm est

A post shared by SZA (@sza) on

Travis closes the song with his signature ad-libs and digitized vocals, and he seems to be representing for Team Stark. Bars like “Lift the mask / They gon’ have to see what they can’t erase,” and “my lil baby, slay” are almost synonymous with Arya Stark, who killed the Night King during last week’s groundbreaking episode and also spent the better part of the series becoming a ruthless “masked” assassin known as the Faceless Men. At this point in the show, there’s no telling who will actually take the Throne, and after what has become of the Stark legacy it would be one amazing ending to give Ned, Catelyn and their entire lineage of loss family members a rightful form of vengeance.

Watch how it all ends these next two Sundays by tuning into the final season of Game of Throne at 9PM EST on HBO. Watch the music video for “Power is Power” in its entirety above, and stream For the Throne below:

Coffee Is Coming: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Notice To-Go Coffee Cup, Memes Are Flourishing

Game of Thrones

Source: HBO / HBO

It appears that even in the mythic land of Westeros, folks are going to get their java fix one way or another. In Sunday night’s (May 5) episode of Game of Thrones, it appears that the Mother of Dragons was enjoying a cup of joe from that famous place that got its start Seattle.

In a scene from “The Last Of The Starks,” Queen Dany is seen looking upon Jon Snow with utter contempt as Tormund and the Wildlings massive and crew rally around him to praise the alleged rightful king for his bravery and leadership. Perhaps it was meant to be an easter egg or a trick of the eye, but it looked like Dany has a hot cup of Starbucks joe on the table in front of her.

With the swiftness, Twitter fans are having a field day with the memes and we’ve got some of our favorites collected down below.

Twitter Bangs On Drake For Possibly Spelling Arya’s Doom After ‘Game Of Thrones’ Shoutout

2019 Billboard Music Awards - Press Room

Source: Daniel Torok / Getty

Drake took to the podium to collect one of his many trophies during the Billboard Music Awards, and the OVO superstar gave a knowing shoutout to Arya Stark for taking out the Night King. Now, Game Of Thrones fans believes those same props will spell doom for the stealthy Stark member.

With a relentlessness as cold as Winterfell, fans on Twitter have been going at Drizzy since the shoutout and the results are rather hilarious. This all stems from the unproven “curse” that Drake has supposedly put on athletes and sports teams in the past due to his endorsement and alignment with them.

We’ve collected some of our favorite tweets below.

Drake Gives Shout Out to Arya Stark at Billboard Music Awards

Drake may be hip hop’s current reigning king of the north (after all, Toronto’s weather probably makes Wesseros’ winter look mild), but at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards last night, he bowed down to the queen of the north, giving Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark a shout during the prestigious awards ceremony.

Accepting the award for his most recent album, Scorpions, “shout out to Arya Stark for putting in that work last week,” much to the delight of the show’s live audience as well as hip hop and Game of Thrones fans around the world.

While Arya Stark might still be relishing in her victory over the white walkers from last weekend, Drake also had a major victory, taking home the top artist award (beating out Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Travis Scott for the honor) as well as top male artist and Billboard 200 album for “Scorpion.”

Even before the awards began, Drake had already established his dominance, entering the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where the awards were held, with 17 total nominations.

Alas, Arya may have to share Drake’s heart with another important woman in his life- his mom. Accepting the top artist award, Drake said, “I just want to thank my mom for her relentless effort in my life. I want to thank my mom for all the times you drove me to piano. All the times you drove me to basketball and hockey, that clearly didn’t work out. All the times you drove me to ‘Degrassi.’ No matter how long it took me to figure out what I wanted to do, you were always there to give me a ride, and now we’re on one hell of ride.”

As Arya likely continues to slay her enemies in the last three episodes of the iconic series, we can only hope that Drake will continue to slay beats in the studio.
