Another Hip-Hop legend will be receiving a proper send-off curated by his family and friends. The funeral plans have been confirmed for Shock G.

As spotted on TMZ, the funeral ceremony has been arranged for tge “Kiss You Back” rapper and producer. According to the celebrity gossip site, his legacy will be celebrated the right way.

In addition, his Digital Underground collective will be in the house. His former manager Atron Gregory says the proceedings will be held in his hometown of Tampa, Fla. G’s former group members Money B and DJ Fuze also have a hand in the planning. Money B’s manager has also made it clear the funeral will not be a group reunion and is working closely with the family to ensure G is honored the right way.

Born Gregory Edward Jacobs, the rapper would play an influential role in 2Pac’s early career with features on “I Get Around” and was a co-producer of his debut album, 2Pacalypse Now.

Shock G would find success via his alter ego Humpty Hump with his monumental crossover single, “The Humpty Dance.” On April 22, he would be found unresponsive by his manager in a Tampa hotel. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.

Shock G was 57.

Pop Smoke Celebrated During Brooklyn Funeral Procession

Street Style - Paris Fashion Week - Menswear F/W 2020-2021 : Day Three

On Thursday afternoon (March 5), fans of Pop Smoke gathered on the streets of Brooklyn’s Canarsie neighborhood, watching as the rapper took one final ride through his hood.

Canarsie is typically a quiet area, secluded, optimal for many of the Black and Hispanic residents who’ve made a home for themselves away from the brashness of more renowned neighborhoods like Flatbush and Bed-Stuy, while staying within the borough. Thursday was unlike anything young Brooklyn natives have seen. Not in Canarsie anyway.

If you’re old enough to remember when Biggie passed away: fans flooded the streets, kids cut school to walk the length of the procession, the mood was solemn. Until someone started to blast tracks from Bed Stuy’s favorite MC and the whole energy changed. Still respectful but celebratory.

It was the same vibe for Pop Smoke, born Bashar Baraka Jackson. Police were heavy in their visibility, but there were no incidents, thankfully. Fans and friends of Pop Smoke swarmed the funeral route. The barricades in front of his mural stood firm as throngs of people pressed against them, “Woo!,” they shouted, as he passed them by.

Pop’s black casket was enclosed in glass marked “POP SMOKE” — Off-White style — and placed inside of a horse drawn carriage. The carriage traveled down Flatlands, one of Canarsie’s main avenues, followed by his family in a Sprinter van and 50 Cent’s wrapped Lamborghini — his way of sending his love in spirit.

People curiously stood on the front stoops of their homes, peering out over the hordes of people who had gathered. Some stood on cars alongside the route. Then someone put Pop on the speakers. A wave of new energy moved through the crowd as they recited lyrics from “Dior” and more.

Smoke’s mother popped out of the van for a few moments to greet friends and neighbors. Every time she showed her face, the crowd screamed out, “Ma!” Even one of the officers on-duty squeezed in to grab a hug from her.

If nothing else, the community is close-knit, especially now that they’ve had to share this tragic experience, saying farewell to one of their most beloved native sons far too soon.

Pop Smoke was shot and killed when four men broke into his Hollywood Hills home last month. Police have said that his murder may have been a targeted hit. The investigation is ongoing.

His family released this statement in February:

“The family of Bashar ‘Pop Smoke’ Jackson would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone for your support. Every prayer, call, and act of kindness is deeply appreciated as we mourn the loss of our son, brother, and friend.”

As fans are still scrambling to make sense of the tragic loss of Nipsey Hussle, a memorial service has been announced for the beloved West Coast rapper and businessman. In Los Angeles next week, the Staples Center will host the going home service for Hussle, a fitting honor for an artist of his caliber.

TMZ reports:

Sources with direct knowledge tell us, the service will take place Thursday morning at the 21,000 seat venue.  We’re told tickets will be sold for the event through a website.  Only ticket holders will gain admission.

Our sources say there was a meeting Wednesday with Nipsey’s family and honchos from Staples.  LAPD officials were also present in the meeting to help plan logistics and security for the event.

It’s a massive undertaking to plan such a major event in less than a week. Staging equipment must be rented, and the rental companies have already been contacted. We’ve learned ushers who work Staples have already been asked to reserve the day.

May Nipsey Hussle rest peacefully in paradise.

Fans of long-running CBS soap opera The Young & The Restless were stunned by the news that actor Kristoff St. John died at the age of 52 last month. St. John was laid to rest Monday (March 4) in Westlake Village, Calif.

The Blast
reports:

His ex-wife, Mia St. John, organized the event, which included a musical performance by R&B star Kenny Lattimore, as well as a slideshow of the star.

Along with close friends, St. John’s beloved Shiba Inu, Brando, attended the services and said goodbye to his dad. Brando was taken in by Mia after her ex-husband’s death.

St. John’s fiancée, Kseniya Mikhaleva, did not attend as she was unable to get an emergency visa approved to allow travel into the U.S. from Moscow.

After the services St. John was buried next to his late son, Julian, at a nearby cemetery. Julian passed away in 2014 at the age of 24 after taking his own life.

Our condolences to the friends and family of Kristoff St. John.
