Michelle Obama’s ‘Becoming’ is on Track to Being the Best-Selling Memoir Ever

Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming sold over 10 million copies, and is on the verge of being the best-selling memoir ever!

Our Forever First Lady is the writer of one of the most popular books of the decade. The CEO of the parent company of publisher Penguin Random House, German media powerhouse Bertelsmann, Thomas Rabe announced Barack Obama’s numbers along with his predictions.

“We believe this could become the most successful memoir ever,” Rabe told reporters in Berlin, according to Bloomberg.

The Obama family has been bringing in great business to the Bertelsmann powerhouse. Barack’s book was the company’s highest selling book in more than a decade, raking in $20 billion in total sales last year.

Michelle Obama has been making headlines all week, especially after telling the nation she once took her husband to counseling in an effort to “fix him.” Obama was visiting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she dropped that tidbit of information…the clip went viral instantly.

The best-selling author told Fallon that in her memoir she’s open about marriage being a lot of work, saying that at one point they needed counseling. “The thing about marriage counseling is, I was one of those wives who [thought] ‘I’m taking you to marriage counseling – so you can be fixed, Barack Obama,’” she said. “Because I was like, ‘I’m perfect.’ I was like, ‘Dr. X, please fix him.’”

Mrs. Obama soon realized she had some things to work on as well, telling Fallon. “And then our counselor looked over at me. I was like, ‘What are you looking at? I’m perfect.’ Marriage counseling was a turning point for me understanding it wasn’t up to my husband to make me happy,” Michelle recalled. “That I had to learn how to fill myself up and have to put myself up higher on my priority list.”As for why she told this story, she said she wanted young people to know marriage isn’t easy.

Starting next month, our forever First Lady will be coming to a city near you as she embarks on her upcoming U.S. book tour, in support of her highly anticipated memoir, Becoming. With an all-star lineup of moderators to accompany her, she’ll share her honest take on the public and private experiences that have shaped her life.

“In candidly recounting moments from her own extraordinary journey, Mrs. Obama will also share life lessons learned and inspire people to become the very best version of themselves,” a press release states.

“Produced by Live Nation, the U.S. tour will kick off in Mrs. Obama’s home town of Chicago on Tuesday, November 13, with Oprah Winfrey moderating her conversation at the United Center. Other tour events will be moderated by such notable figures as Elizabeth Alexander (11/25 and 12/1), Valerie Jarrett (11/17 and 12/17), Michele Norris (11/24 and 12/14), Sarah Jessica Parker (12/19), Phoebe Robinson (11/29 and 12/11), Tracee Ellis Ross (11/15), and Reese Witherspoon (12/13), each of whom will engage Mrs. Obama in an inspiring and lively conversation,” the announcement continues.
