Vocab Slick & DJ True Justice Take a Trip Up and Down the West Coast on Their New Video for ”No Time to Lose”

Take a trip up and down the West Coast with Vocab Slick and DJ True Justice in the new video for “No Time to Lose,” an uplifting and nostalgic track featuring funky production by Chef Boyz. The duo shot the video during their fall 2023 tour, also named “No Time To Lose,” that took them all over California and up through Oregon and Washington.

You’ll see various live performances as well as some sightseeing in the visuals, which were directed by Mandela Newman and edited by William Rushton Films. This includes gorgeous footage of the Santa Cruz pier and boardwalk, the stages of Nevada City and Redding, and even the last standing Blockbuster in Bend, OR —and that’s just a sample of what’s on display.

Check out the visuals and head over to your preferred digital retailer or streaming platform to support. “No Time To Lose” is taken from Vocab Slick’s forthcoming new album due out soon via DR Music.

DJ True Justice Connects With Vocab Slick and Z-Man In “Zip Zero” Video

DJ True Justice connects with emcees Vocab Slick and Z-Man to bring that Bay Area energy to the world with the super-hype video for “Zip Zero,” which originally appeared on The Coach EP recorded at ComplexSF.

Directed and shot by Sarah Arnold, along with 707.Supply, the visuals arrive in time to kick off the three artists’ upcoming shows as part of their 1/8 Annual Slap Frost Tour. The video is also a celebration of live performances, because “Zip Zero” showcases their dynamic, electrifying stage presence.

And then there’s the track itself, which is an absolute banger fueled by high-energy bars, head-spinning turntablism and raw production courtesy of Killa Trax and Starski. Vocab Slick’s playful hook, which True Justice complements with slick cuts, is the embodiment of those qualities as he spits bars like, “Limp when I walk with my shoulder shrugged, that’s how it is when you’re fresh out of f–ks.”

Check out the visuals and catch DJ True Justice, Vocab Slick, and Z-Man on the West Coast leg of their 1/8 Annual Slap Frost Tour that kicks off on May 5th in Santa Rosa, CA. For tickets, dates, and locations, you can visit: SlapFrost.com/Tour

Dox Black & Madd Wizardry Drop Underground Gem “Chaos Theory” (EP Review)

It’s always dope when we highlight new music that preserves the essence of what Hip Hop is all about. Last time we heard of Dox Black was with his 2021 album “Enigma”. In 2022 he is continuing his tradition of releasing an album every year, Dox Black delivers one of his most vigorous efforts to date with the “Chaos Theory” EP connecting with Madd Wizardry on the production.

Features on this project include Butch Swin, Boogz Davinchi, Dj True Justice, Mr Mental Case, Mic Ripz, ZEPS, XienHow, Bay area legend Equito, and rising west coast lyricist XP The Marxman. The combination of True Justice, Equito, and XP (one of our personal favs right now) on the same project goes to show how well acquainted Dox and Madd are with what real Hip Hop should be listening too, giving the listener multiple elements to enjoy. Some raw DJ’n mixed with old school and new school names is always a great recipe for a memorable listen.

“Immortalized” is a real highlight complimented by an official video release where Dox lets loose on his rhyme pattern not even taking a breath yet sounding so smooth on the beat. “Art of War”, the second track off the project gives a strong reminisce of some military style classic Baldhead Slick & da Click aka Guru reflecting back when Gangstarr related music was all I was listening to. Something about Madd’s style with these beats, I notice he makes neck breakers. “Chaos Theory”, “Salvador Dali”, and “Power” definitely make the cut for being those head knockers that earn the repeat on our playlist.

I will conclude that “Spontaneous Combustion” featuring XeinHow and XP is the track that serves as the cherry on the pie with a Lootpack feel. The way the song was mixed, the way Dox, Xein, and XP layed down there rhymes, and the catchy hook by Dox makes this song that classic off the project that we feel fans will dig through out time.

This 10-track “Chaos Theory” EP by Dox Black & Madd Wizardry earns a solid 8/10, defining what true boom bap should be sounding in 2022.
