It looks like the story of Roc-A-Fella Records will be finally be told. Kareem Burke revealed he is working on a film.

Recently the Harlem native did an interview with Revolt TV to discuss his current projects. When speaking on his executive producer role for HBO’s film O.G. he was asked on whether the Roc will receive the biopic treatment. Biggs confirmed the iconic Rap label’s narrative will be on the big screen. “Yeah, I’m working on it now” he said.

Burke went on to detail how he would frame the plot so viewers really get an understanding of he, Jay-Z and Dash built a Hip-Hop empire. “It’ll probably be separate stories of JAY, Damon and myself. Showing us as kids to understand what we’ve went through — the pain and hardships”.

He went on to provide specific examples of their early personal misfortunes that would covered in the flick. “The extenuating circumstances such as me living in a shelter, some people don’t really know that. Being evicted, living in a shelter, and staying in people’s houses and floors for two years. JAY losing his father at four years old when his father left him. Dame losing his mom at 14 years old and having to put himself through private school. So, there were a lot of hardships and things we went through that actually gave us strength”.

While speaking on his former partners he was asked his thoughts on Dame Dash’s recent apology to him, JAY-Z, Jim Jones and a host of others.  “Usually, when people apologize, it’s not so much about the person they’re apologizing to. It’s more about them and relieving that burden or whatever is troubling them. For him to feel better and be in a better space, I’m really happy about that. I’m hopeful that his apology took him to a place, and a level of comfort and forgiveness.”

In 2017 Dash announced that he was developing a Roc-A-Fella Records movie but it has yet to come to fruition. Earlier this month Burke confirmed he is returning to the music business with a management deal with SAINt JHN.

Viola Davis is currently taking fans and critics on a wild ride with the acclaimed heist caper Widows, and now she’s preparing to play one of political history’s greatest figures. It was recently announced that Davis will play Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress.

Deadline exclusively reports:

Days after Oscar winner Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions announced a first look feature production deal with Amazon Studios, the first project is moving forward: The Fighting Shirley Chisholm in which Davis will produce and star as the U.S. Representative who was both the first woman and the first person of color to seek a major American political party’s nomination for President.

Amazon studios acquired the title in what we understand was a fierce bidding war, with Homegrown Pictures’ Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow, Dear White People) and Mel Jones producing with JuVee. Maggie Betts (Novitiate) will direct the screenplay written by Emmy-nominated writer Adam Countee (Silicon Valley, Community, Mindy Project).

Davis is among the few actors and actresses to claim an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Awards win.

A release date for the film, titled The Fighting Shirley Chisholm, has not been released.

Snoop Dogg has been on the scene for nearly three decades and manages to remain a viable part of Hip-Hop and pop culture in ways few probably could have envisioned by in the early ’90’s. In a recent interview while in Washington, D.C., the D-O-Double-G expressed an interest in having a biopic of his life created while dropping a pair of names potentially connected to the project.

Page Six reports:

“I already got with somebody. I don’t even want to expose the names like that but I got some big wigs connected to it, some wigs. It’s like some wiggathons. If I said these names, I mean these are some real wiggathons,” he said before going on to name drop two Hollywood heavyweights. “So you want me to tell you their names? In conjunction with Lee Daniels and Ryan Coogler.”

Snoop, whose career stretches back to the early ’90s heyday of gangster rap, has grand plans for the project too, saying he envisions it as an epic.

“Late ‘60s with my mother and father,” he said. “Pops in Vietnam. ‘70s, when I was born in ’71, the hippie era, growing up. ‘80s, football, selling candy — uh oh! — cocaine, selling drugs, gang banging. ‘90s – unh! — rap.”

There isn’t an official announcement of the development of the project just yet, but it seems that Snoop is ready to go all if so.
