Even before the billions Jay-Z proved that he always thought two steps ahead. Thankfully he also put the talk of New York on to some game in the name of the culture.

As spotted HipHopDX Angie Martinez recently conducted an interview with Page Six. In it she discussed how her initial meeting with Roc Nation not only helped advance her career but also preserve her precious content. When asked about her infamous but never released Q&A with Tupac Shakur she said Jigga might be the reason it is still accessible.

“The tapes are in a safe, secure place now. But they weren’t for many years. Before that, they were in my laundry room and it was actually Jay-Z that told me to put it in a safe place” she admitted. “I was in a meeting at Roc Nation and we were talking about my archives because I have all my old interviews on tape. They were literally in boxes in my laundry room and Jay said: ‘Get them out of the room now. Somebody help her get them out of that room now because if there is a flood or a fire it will be destroyed.’”

Naturally she took his advice and took steps to protect her audio. “So people at work helped me digitize the tapes so I can make sure I have them forever.” Back in 1996 she sat down with the slain legend while in Los Angeles. While the two talked for two hours only 12 minutes of the meeting was ever released. Currently the tapes are in “a safe in an actual vault where you would need specific access to get to them” she explained.

Fat Joe obviously takes the code of the streets to heart. He made it clear that he has no love for rainbow haired rats.

Joey Crack recently sat down with Angie Martinez for an interview to promote his newest artist Angelica Vila. During the sit down, Tekashi came up as a subject and the “Make It Rain” rapper had some harsh words for the troll turned snitch.

Martinez referred to the fact that Joe once tried to warn the Dummy Boy of what was going to happen to him if he didn’t make better moves. His response was ice cold to say the least. “I thought he was a nice guy, and now he can’t be my friend, he can’t come around me ever again.”

While he recognizes that times have changed and the youth of today does not adhere to the no snitching policy he stands strong on his beliefs. “I believe the youth don’t care. Obviously they don’t care they playing his music in the club and all of that. Me? I can’t. I’d die before you see me take a picture with Tekashi69.”

His response shocked Angie thus he explained his stance further. “Those are rules. He crossed that line. I don’t even understand if I go to the club and they play his song—I’m keeping it a buck. I pray for people who cross that line—when they talk to the police and they snitch, I pray for them.”

He went on to praise Bobby Shmurda for not telling on his team.

You can watch the interview below. The stool pigeon talk starts at the 19:00 minute mark.

Meek Mill Says All Bets Are Off When It Comes To Rap Beef [Video]

Source: LoveFest Miami 2014 – Concert Featuring: Meek Mill Where: Coral Gables, Florida, United States When: 15 Feb 2014 Credit: JLN Photography/WENN.com

If there is someone that can speak to casualties of Rap wars in this era it is Meek Mill. He made it clear no topic is safe with diss records.

During a recent visit to the Angie Martinez Show the Philadelphia MC was asked about Drake’s beef with Pusha T and if King Push went too far. Surprisingly Rihmeek said no. “Ain’t no such thing as going too hard; I would tell Drake that when I see him. I’m just telling you I come from [a place] where n***as is sayin’, ‘We smoke your mom’ […] ‘Your dad is a rat. Your sister’s a hoe. Your grand-mama’s on crack.’ That’s how this game came up. This is what it is” he explained.

Of course Mill could relate to the online ruthlessness of what a well crafted response song can do. He reminisced on how much flack he took from Drake when he released “Back To Back”. “They got memes, all types of sh*t going on. I don’t know what to do. I’m in the mix; I’m confused now.” He went on to confirm there is hope when you’re coming back from taking an L. “Ain’t no rules, though […] You can take any stance you want, you can do it how you want. Just, you know, continue your legacy and be great. We’re going to see all at the end—five years from now, 10 years from now—who is going to continue to be great. We’re gonna have some shootouts sometimes, you know what I mean? But as long as you make it home, that’s all that matters at the end of the night.”

Speaking of Drake Angie Martinez asked him to elaborate on the story he told about double dating with Jay-Z and Beyoncé on CROWN. It seems Meek’s memory on that night was a bit off as it was not “Back To Back” that Hov mistakenly played. “It was ‘Jumpman,’ but it felt like ‘Back to Back,’ ’cause the f***in’ beef was so intense” he admitted.

He went to share that Jigga corrected him through a text conversation. “He said, ‘I had ‘Jumpman’ on my playlist … I wouldn’t be listening to that if [I was hanging with] you,” Meek said. “That’s like me ridin’ around bangin’ a Jay-Z diss right now. And then I thought about it and was, like, ‘Well, if that was ‘Jumpman,’ that sh*t felt like ‘Back to Back.’”

Anderson .Paak fans are anxiously awaiting the rapper’s third studio album, Oxnard, due later this month. While they wait, .Paak hit up The Angie Martinez Show to reveal some details about the project, including his full list of album features and more.

Dr. Dre, QTip, Snoop Dogg, Pusha T, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar will all make appearances on Oxnard, .Paak told Martinez. He also spoke on how the J. Cole feature came about.

“Him and Dre was working and I was opening up for him on his last tour,” he said. “He was like ‘Yo Dre played me something, this crazy one,” .Paak recalled, explaining how Dre’s preview won Cole over. “It was unfinished, so I needed something…he was in town when I was working on it, I was wrapping it up. And I was like ‘If you around, pull up’ and he pulled right up.”

While Chance the Rapper isn’t featured on the album, .Paak says they’ve definitely recorded some music together that may or may not appear on Chance’s next offering.

Watch Martinez get the scoop up top and tune into Oxnard on November 16.
