Apple’s AirPods May Be Phased Out With New AirPods Pro Lite Model: Report

We know, you’re probably reading this saying to yourself we just got the AirPods Pro, well, of course, Apple is reportedly working on a cheaper successor called the AirPods Pro Lite.

The revelation came as reports from Taiwanese publication, Digitmes reporting Apple wanting to move production of some of its products to assembly lines in Taiwan out of fear of the deadly Coronavirus that is currently affecting China and some parts of the globe. Apple’s decision to make production changes reportedly hint at the company’s plan to start making a new iPad, Apple Watch, iMac, and, as reported, the AirPods Pro Lite.

Per Digitimes:

“Apple is mulling shifting more assembly orders for its new models slated for launch in the first half of 2020 to factories in Taiwan mainly to diversify production risks associated with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, according to industry sources.”

As to what Apple fans can expect from the AirPods Pro Lite, rumors hint at the accessory being a cheaper version of the AirPods Pro. So we assume the means it could possibly not have the noise-cancellation feature but keep the snug fit that makes the Pro’s so popular among Apple’s faithful consumers. If that is indeed the case, the AirPods Pro Lite could also be the replacement for the regular AirPods.

Interestingly this news comes on the heels of Samsung announcing its newest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip and family of Galaxy S20 flagship phones, as well as an upgrade to wireless buds, the Galaxy Buds+. Maybe Apple is just trying to steal some of Samsung’s thunder, who knows. We shall see if these reports come to fruition.

Apple FINALLY Announces AirPods Pro, Twitter Reacts To The New Clout Pods

Rumors have been swirling about Apple’s AirPods Pro since last June. Since then, we have seen an update to the original AirPods and dropped two new Beats headphones. Today (Oct.28), the tech giant FINALLY announced the high-end version of its wireless earbuds.

What sets the AirPods Pro aside from the lower-end model is the fact that it features Active Noise Cancellation, an all-new design, and immersive sound.  Apple boasts the AirPods Pro are even more lightweight than the original model and will now have three silicone ear tips that contours to the user’s ears. The silicone tips help provide a superior seal that ensures the AirPods Pro delivers immersive sound.

The AirPods Pro also utilizes an innovative vent system that aims to equalize pressure, to help minimize the discomfort most in-ear-headphone users experience. The Pros will also be sweat-and-water resistant like the regular AirPods as well, making them perfect everyday physical actives and your workouts.

With the help of Adaptive EQ, the AirPods Pro deliver “superior sound quality” by automatically tuning the low- and mid-frequencies of the music to the shape of the user’s ear. This results in a vibrant and immersive listening experience. The custom high dynamic range the AirPods Pro features promises to extend battery life and at the same time, produces “pure, clean sound.”

Speaking of battery life, Apple states the AirPods Pro will deliver the same excellent battery life as the original AirPods giving users up to five hours of listening time. With Active Noise-Cancellation mode active, the AirPods Pro will provide up to four and a half hours of listening time. You will also get up to three and a half hours of talk time on a single charge, according to Apple. Paired with the charging case, the AirPods Pro can deliver up to 24 hours of listening time and over 18 hours of talk time.

Other features users can look forward to after they spend $249 on the AirPods Pro is voice-activated Siri, audio sharing, announce messages, transparency mode, and the Ear Tip Fit Test. The new high-end arrives on Oct. 30 via apple.com. Twitter had thoughts about Apple’s latest clout accessory if you thought AirPod owners were bougie before way till these bad boys drop. Apple is getting all of its announcements not related to its forthcoming TV streaming service out of the way. Earlier this week the company brought back the iPad Air and iPad Mini, and today they snuck the second generation of its popular wireless Airpods.

So what’s new? Well, the new $160 AirPods sport a new H1 chip specifically made for the second generation of Apple’s wireless accessory. The company boasts that it will give users more talk time, faster connectivity and now the ability to beckon the iPhone’s virtual assistant by saying “Hey Siri.”

What Apple fans were eagerly waiting for was the arrival of the wireless charging case, but there is a catch it will cost you an extra $40 if you want it. You can also purchase it alone for $80 if you already own a pair of AirPods and don’t feel the need to upgrade. Everything is available now by the way and will land in stores next week.

The second-gen AirPods haven’t really changed all that much for you to want to upgrade from your old pair. Even though you supposedly get up to 50 percent more talk time and faster connectivity, spending $200 or $80 for a new case isn’t really worth it. You can also engrave your AirPods for free, that might serve well if you lose them or catch someone wearing them. With the release of the wireless charging case, it seems Apple is prepping us for the release of its long-awaited AirPower charging mat, we shall see.

Oh man, the AirPod memes will be taken to another level if this news turns out to be true. Reportedly Apple is set to launch the second generation of the popular wearable reportedly sometime this year.

If you though AirPod users did the most, wait until they get their hands on these.

According to a DigiTimes report, Apple’s AirPods 2 is coming this year and will have some significant upgrades from its predecessors. Version 2 will reportedly include “health monitoring features” on top of wireless charging, water resistance, and a new “radical” design.

The report doesn’t have any direct sources to confirm this news but does point to two Taiwan-based PCB suppliers Zhen Ding Tech and Flexium Interconnect being the primary source of the AirPods and Apple Watch components.

DigiTimes also does point out in its report that Apple will be facing some stiff competition in the wearables department. Other brand vendors are looking to launch their own wireless headsets and smartwatches this year looking to take advantage of the rising popularity in the devices.

Apple is currently banking on the success of it AirPods and Apple Watches to subside its slowing iPhone sales. This looks like a very safe bet for the company who is rumored to be working on wearable smart fabric as well. We wonder if these are the high-end versions of the wireless device that was reported on back in June of 2018. We will just have to wait and see.

Don’t Want To Spend $160 On AirPods? Xiaomi’s $30 AirDots Might Be The Move

Apple’s AirPods are very popular among iPhone users, but there are still quite a few people who scoff at the idea of paying $160 for the wireless earbuds. Xiaomi announced a new cheaper alternative for those who want the same experience but for a much lower price.

Xiaomi well known for its affordable accessories and phone introduced its AirPod alternatives called AirDots that basically have all of the same functions but only cost ¥199 CNY ($29). Like Apple’s product, the AirDots feature touch controls and a similar white case that also serves as a charging dock for the earbuds. The only difference Xiaomi’s earbuds will have silicon tips that will provide sound isolation and an improved fit and will support Bluetooth 5.0.

We don’t expect the AirDots to match the AirPods in regards to sound quality, but for that price, you are definitely getting more bang for your buck. The AirDots are currently limited to China and are available for pre-order on the company’s website. With Apple working on high-end AirPods and cheaper alternatives now popping up this might lead to smartphone suppliers actually packaging wireless earbuds with the phones.
