Kanye West Self-Advocates For Board Seats With Gap & Adidas: ‘Black Board Seats Matter’

adidas Kanye West

Kanye West is unequivocally one of mankind’s hugest self-advocates. It has always worked to his advantage. He proclaimed to be “the savior of Chicago” (Jay-Z confirms this) and spoke his billion-dollar Yeezy empire into existence. It’s safe to say that Ye’s self-advocacy is uncanny. Since his deal with Adidas back in 2013, he has helped to raise the company’s stock with his renowned Yeezy sneakers.

In his latest interview with Nick Cannon, West says he was motivated to replace Nike’s previously popular Roshe sneaker with Yeezy. We can all concede that his mission was accomplished.

Earlier this Summer he announced his partnership with Gap. With YZY-Gap the retail company is looking to replicates Ye’s success with Adidas. Now the music and fashion mogul is adding another feat to his laundry list of on-going tasks. On Thursday (Sept. 10) he took to Twitter to voice his opinion on Board positions with his current companies.

“I DONT HAVE A BOARD SEAT AT GAP I DONT HAVE A BOARD SEAT AT ADIDAS … BLACK BOARD SEATS MATTER,” said West.

Board positions ultimately have the final say within a companies’ operational structure. Representation matters and Ye wants to be the first to hold that seat. Adidas’ executive board is comprised of five members including their CEO, Kasper Rorsted. As far as Gap, his partnership is quite fresh, so it may take some time. Knowing the Yeezy CEO, he tries to get it done by any means necessary.

Kanye West Sneaker Empire Worth to Make $1.5 Billion Dollars in 2019

Just a few years ago, Kanye West was reportedly in massive debt trying to get his clothing line off the ground. Now, his vision has come to pass, and his company is a smashing success.

Besides his love of music, Kanye West loves fashion. But instead of just buying clothes, West has built a fashion empire that is bringing in major coin.

Kanye West’s sneaker empire is a billion-dollar enterprise, according to a new cover story on the rapper’s business endeavors by Forbes magazine.

The incredibly popular Yeezy sneaker line, which began at Nike, now with Adidas, is projected to make over $1.5 billion in sales in 2019. West is said to have taken home over $150 million in income over the past year, as reported by Forbes.

Since moving the Yeezy line from Nike to Adidas in 2013, West has struck what Forbes calls an ‘unprecedented deal’ for 15 percent royalty on wholesale, plus a marketing fee.

For comparison, Michael Jordan is said to get a royalty rate of 5 percent on the Air Jordan line, which does annual sales of about $3 billion.

West has had a major turnaround from a few just a few years ago. He sent social media ablaze when he asked Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion in his “ideas” and claimed to be $53 million in debt.

“I’m just blessed through the grace of God to go from tweeting at Mark Zuckerberg” to ask for money, West says, to where he is today. He can laugh at himself a little now. “People wondered, ‘Why did you tweet at Mark Zuckerberg?’ And I was like, ‘Hey, I heard he was looking for aliens.’ ”

IG Account Puts Big Spending Yeezy Wearing Pastors On Blast

For decades pastors of mega churches have been accused of swindling their congregations out of millions of dollars for their own personal gain and use and while many cases have proven to be true via investigations, Instagram is now being used to spot the suspect spending habits of certain men of God.

In a new piece from The New York Times, we find that a few pastors have been caught wearing high-end name brand gear that we kind of doubt Jesus would’ve given them his blessing to purchase. We mean, the son of God wore a robe and chancletas throughout his entire ordeal for Christ’s sake. Still, men like Carl Lentz and Chad Veach who make a living spreading the word of God seem to love to stunt for the gram like Kardashians.

Carl Lentz, the pastor who baptized Justin Bieber in a professional basketball player’s bath tub, appeared wearing a pair of Nike Air Fear of God sneakers that were selling online for about $500.

Then John Gray, a pastor from South Carolina, was shown in blood-red Air Yeezy 2s, the sneakers made in collaboration with Kanye West, that were going for upward of $5,000.

And in another photo, Chad Veach, who preaches in Los Angeles, had a $1,900 Gucci bag and wore $795 pants.

A new IG account dubbed PreachersNSneakers posts pics of pastors who’s closet game can rival that of your favorite celebrity and while we don’t know if these pastors and preachers are aware that they’re being put on blast, they will now. Already the account has amassed more than 140 thousand followers with hundreds of people posting criticizing and sarcastic comments about these humble preacher’s expensive tastes.

Pastor John Gray meanwhile got caught stuntin’ in a pair of $5,000 “Red October” Yeezy’s that many consider their holy grails. These are just his Monday kicks.

The man behind the account meanwhile is a 29-year-old graduate student who peeped these pastor’s closet game and felt it was something worth exploring.

“Initially, I felt very justified in the stuff I was posting and seeing,” he said.

The controversy resulting from the Instagram posts started off like any other social media flame war. Yet the exchanges soon morphed into something far different: a nuanced and at times challenging conversation that was carried out in social media posts and discussed at length in podcasts. At a recent Christian hip-hop concert, performers were discussing it backstage.

The pastors for their part have tried to downplay their expensive attire and have reached out to the graduate student to explain themselves.

The pastors have contributed little to the conversation. They have talked about it privately and reached out to the person behind the account, who said he was told by the pastors that shoes and clothes are often given to them. Others on Instagram defended them, arguing that the account aimed to sow discord and pillory the pastors.

Unless them “Red October” Yeezy’s is bootlegs, we don’t know any sneakerhead who would be willing to part with some $5,000 grails just off the strength of their religious beliefs. Just sayin.’
