Months back news broke regarding the premiere of a documentary chronicling the sexual misconduct of R. Kelly over the years. The Lifetime production was set to have its premiere in New York City tonight (Dec. 4) but derailed midway through after a threat was placed against the screening’s hosting venue.
The premiere of Surviving R. Kelly was scheduled to occur at the NeueHouse Madison Square at 6 p.m. local time. The event was evacuated before the event’s panel discussion after an anonymous call detailed a gunman was on the inside, prompting an evacuation. The first episode of the documentary did air during the time.
