Avery Wilson is back with his new EP 8:34.
The 23-year-old crooner flexes his powerhouse vocals on the 4-track project, premiering exclusively on Rap-Up. From the sultry opener “ATM” to the chopped-and-screwed “Genuine,” Wilson proves R&B is alive and well.
The title was inspired by the exact time he was born. “Everything I’ve been through in my life has put me in position to be everything that I am,” he tells Rap-Up. “8:34 is my musical prime example of maturing in life, love, and self—first hand.”
At the age of 16, Avery captivated the judges on “The Voice” before catching the attention of Clive Davis, who signed him to RCA Records. Under the guidance of the legendary music mogul, he honed his skills as an artist and built a loyal following with his covers of Adele, Drake and Rihanna, and Beyoncé.
Last fall, he went independent and released his 5-track EP FYI, which he wrote and produced himself. In celebration of the new EP, Wilson will host a release party in Brooklyn on Thursday featuring a kickback and performance.
