Backpack giant Sprayground is out here doing big things. Fresh off launching its new Red Label Apparel brand, the popular brand has come through with a new Black History Month collection release featuring iconic abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman.
Global backpack and influential streetwear brand Sprayground, launches the Harriet Tubman backpack in celebration and recognition of Black History Month.
The brand launched a collection that captures the legacy of political activist, Harriet Tubman, taking inspiration from her portrait. The limited-edition backpack features a large portrait image on the $20 dollar bill.
Since the redesign of the current $20 bill has been delayed until 2028, David wanted to make sure this year Harriet Tubman was honored, and created a bag that tributes one of the pioneers of the civil rights movement to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote.
David Ben David, said: “It’s an honor to be able to put an iconic historical figure in American culture on a Sprayground backpack. Harriet Tubman’s activism influenced a great part of American culture and to be able to pay homage to such an amazing leader in our nation’s history during Black History Month is truly a privilege. ”
The bill represents a turning point in American history as she would be the first African American woman to be on US currency.
