Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy is going to spend a few months behind bars. New reports claim the hip-hop veteran received 240 days in jail and 265 days of community service for violating his probation.
According to reports, SB received his lengthy punishment Tuesday in a California courtroom.
Soulja was in court Tuesday — and while his attorney said the rapper’s had an “awakening” during the last 20 days he’s been locked up — it clearly wasn’t enough to convince the judge to let him go easy. Soulja will start the sentence right away … and has credit for 40 days served. The judge told Soulja he was originally considering sentencing him to 2 years in state prison but decided to give him some leniency. The judge also acknowledged that Soulja’s missed out on business opportunities while behind bars. (TMZ)
Earlier this month, Soulja landed in jail on his probation violation.
On Thursday, Soulja, 28, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom where a judge ruled that he had violated his probation related to weapon charges, TMZ reports. In February, police carried out a raid at the “Crank That” rapper’s home to investigate a claim that Soulja had kidnapped and assaulted his girlfriend, according to the outlet. While there, police allegedly found ammunition in Soulja’s house. (People)
Over the past few years, SB has had multiple run-ins with law enforcement.
Soulja Boy’s probation violation stems from a December 2014 conviction for carrying a loaded firearm in public. He was sentenced to 24 months of probation, which he was arrested for violating in December 2016 after police said they found a gun in his home. The next month, Soulja Boy was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor stemming from the arrest. In March 2017, he was convicted on one of the felonies and given five years of probation.
