After much speculation, the summer will be even hotter on the small screen. It has been announced that Snowfall Season 3 is returning this summer to FX on July 10. The hit drama will take viewers back in time to the 1980s, in Los Angeles, during the time in which the pervasive force of crack cocaine epidemic first hit the streets.
Set in Los Angeles in 1983, the series revolves around the first crack epidemic and its impact on the culture of the city. The series follows the stories of several characters whose lives are fated to intersect: 19-year-old drug dealer Franklin Saint, Mexican luchador Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata, CIA operative Teddy McDonald, and a Mexican crime boss’s niece, Lucia Villanueva.
The series, which made its debut on FX back on July 5, 2017, was created by acclaimed writers Eric Amadio (Stuntmen), Dave Andron (Justified) and legendary film director and writer John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood). Tragedy came upon the series the middle of production on Season 3. Snowfall will be without the watchful eye of Singleton – who also served as director and executive producer – who just passed away after being taken off life support after rendered comatose from an April 17 stroke. Yet, production on the third season of Snowfall will continue, in Singleton’s honor.
“It has been great to see Snowfall’s audience and critical acclaim grow in its second season,” said Eric Schrier, Co-President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “The creative team has done a fantastic job and we have high hopes for season three.”
The series stars Damson Idris as Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur; Carter Hudson as CIA operative Teddy McDonald; and Emily Rios as Lucia Villanueva and Sergio Peris-Mencheta as Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata, the drug-running couple who discovers the potency of crack and tries to exploit it.
