Snoop Dogg Responds to Cardi B ‘WAP’ Backlash, Says He’s Not a ‘Hater’

Snoop Dogg won’t be labeled a hater.

Over the weekend, the legendary rapper went viral after he criticized Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s chart-topping hit “WAP” for being too raunchy.

“Oh my God. Slow down. Like, slow down. And let’s have some imagination,” Snoop said during an interview with Central Ave. “Let’s have some, you know, privacy, some intimacy where he wants to find out as opposed to you telling him.”

Snoop admitted that the song may appeal to his daughter’s generation, but it makes him feel uncomfortable as a 49-year-old father. “My daughter is from a different era, though,” Snoop said. “She’s from this era. She may be doing the ‘WAP’ or apart of the ‘WAP’ and I can’t be mad at her ’cause it’s her generation, you know what I’m saying. But, at the same time, the things that I would rather see, you know, ’cause I’ma older man.”

He faced backlash on social media from those who noted Snoop’s own history of explicit and misogynistic songs including “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None)” and “Bitches Ain’t Shit.”

Offset was quick to defend his wife following Snoop’s criticism, respectfully telling him to stay out of “female’s business.” “As rappers, we talk about the same sh*t,” the Migos rapper told TMZ. “It’s a lot of women empowerment, don’t shoot it down. We never had this many artists as female artists running this sh*t. They catching up to us, passing us, and setting records.”

Now Snoop is clapping back at the media and his critics for trying to make him sound like a hater. “Stop wit the bullshit press,” he wrote on Instagram, while declaring his support for female MCs. “I love Cardi b and Meg. Music period point blank and they know that I’m n full support of the female. M. C. Movement so stop trying to make me a hater. U. F. D. H. B. Now carry on Before u get this. L. A. D.”

He also celebrated “WAP’s” success and pushed for a new narrative: “That song 6xs platinum talk about that.”
