Police may have a lead in the murder of Nipsey Hussle.
A law enforcement source tells the New York Daily News that LAPD homicide detectives have a suspect in their sights and it’s someone who knew the rapper.
The shooter is believed to have a gang affiliation, but wasn’t a rival and the shooting is being described as a “deal gone wrong.” However, the murder may be classified as “gang-related” because Hussle had a prior gang affiliation.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the shooter was a young man known to Nipsey who opened fire at close range before fleeing in a getaway car. The dispute appears to have been personal in nature.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his 20s and said he was still at large. TMZ, who obtained surveillance footage, says he escaped in a vehicle driven by a woman.
Hussle was gunned down outside his Marathon Clothing store on Slauson Ave. in Los Angeles around 3:20 p.m on Sunday. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two other people were also injured during the shooting.
The 33-year-old rapper was scheduled to meet with the LAPD on Monday to discuss gang violence prevention in the area. “Many of us will join together to stop what ever caused your, and so many other tragic unnecessary killings,” tweeted LAPD Commissioner Steve Soboroff.
