State of the Culture host Remy Ma surrendered to authorities on Wednesday (May 1) for a misdemeanor assault charge.

TMZ reports the personality and rapper’s misdemeanor assault charge is in connection to her Love and Hip-Hop co-star Brittney Taylor. Late last month, Taylor alleges Remy punched her backstage at the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert that was held at Irving Plaza after a heated confrontation. The concert was held on April 16.

Taylor originally let the incident become public on social media, however, TMZ reports she also was preparing a civil suit by collecting evidence, which included surveillance footage.

Remy’s bail was set at $1,500, which she posted. Remy’s attorney, Dawn Florio, maintains her innocence stating the time Taylor suggests the attack happened, Remy was at home.
