Ray J is about his business these days but it wasn’t always that way. Earlier in this decade, the Love and Hip-Hop star was making headlines for insane statements and releases, one of which was his diss song “I Hit It First.”

The song was targeted to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and in a recent clip shares from his appearance on Drink Champs, Ray J details the release was a moment of being “mentally petty.”

“I think at that time, I was just mentally petty. Mentally petty and just having too much fun,” Ray J said. “Really not thinking about the other side and how it might make people feel. Not just the other side of who I was talking about but just really, the fans and people, who, like depend on you to do right.”
