R&B singer R. Kelly‘s former manager James Mason had some serious heat on his head last summer. New reports claim law enforcement went after the music executive over being accused of threatening to kill one of the women’s fathers featured on Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries.
According to reports, the incident between Mason and Kelly’s alleged sexual partner Joycelyn Savage’s dad Timothy Savage allegedly went down last May.
Savage claims his daughter is being held against her will by R. Kelly and Mason threatened him for speaking out about it. Reached by phone Wednesday morning, Mason told CNN he had “no comment” and referred additional questions to his attorney. In an incident report obtained by CNN, Timothy Savage stated that Mason said, “I’m gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I’m gonna get you, I’m going to f***ing kill you.” The case was presented to a Magistrate Judge who issued a warrant in July, citing “terroristic threats and acts.” The warrant is assigned to the sheriff’s office. This week, Atlanta rapper Future said people should stop putting ample focus on Kelly.
“Man, who is that? I thought we had forgot about that? We giving it too much attention. When you give things too much attention, they blow up. That’s why he gonna blow up. That’s why his music gonna do what it do. If you stop talking about it, it’ll go away.” (Power 106 FM)

This week, buzz developed about a Georgia criminal investigation launching following last week’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries airing.
We’re told the probe was launched over the past few days as a direct result of what ‘Surviving’ depicted. We’re told investigators have been reaching out to several survivors featured in the TV project. We have confirmed investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home. We’re told investigators were flooded with calls once the docuseries aired. (TMZ)
Earlier in the week, reports emerged about social media giant Facebook deleting a pro-Kelly “Surviving Lies” website for violating its guidelines.
BuzzFeed News reporter Ryan Mac posted screengrabs of the site to Twitter before it was removed. Both Mac and TMZ reported the same statement from a Facebook spokesperson in response to their queries about the pulled site: “The Page violated our Community Standards and has been removed. We do not tolerate bullying or sharing someone’s private contact information and take action on content that violates our policies as soon as we’re aware.” (Vulture)
