Q&A With Rising Baltimore, MD Hip Hop Artist Mista O

Hey Mista O, we would like to thank you for your contribution to underground Hip Hop and keeping the culture alive! We really enjoyed your new single “410 Bitches 2”! Please tell us what exact part of Baltimore are you from? How long have you been making music?

Ok I was born and raised in west Baltimore. I been rapping since 9 yrs old.

What influenced you to become a Hip Hop artist? What were the main factors that got you into, quote on quote, “Underground Hip Hop”?!

Bone thugs harmony made me want rap. Straight the fuck up. There was no social media. Just looking at the first of month video constantly on the box. The box was a music video channel. Doing that time. you had catch the video when you could or get a blank vhs tape and tape it. I just like they fast flow. Imagery.96′ begins Mista O.

Your style and rhyme scheme is super raw, hard-hitting and ORIGINAL. How important is it for you to stay ORIGINAL? How would you describe your style?

My style straight to the point. Im a thinking man. So all that stuff click to me. Originality will always last longer then any gimmick. I heard a nigga once say. You gotta stand up and stand out. I’ve done my part well.

We noticed your Soundcloud page has a bunch of solid hard-hitting singles, especially “Blowin Up my Town“. Tell us about the creative process behind your single productions? Also, ever planning on dropping an official Album?

Blowin up my town. Was my first single from the cassette tape vol2. Recording that song. The engineer told me. To put energy in it. Being a 27 yr old. it got 8 million views on worldstar. I forgot who made the beat. Got a little buzz from it. But in my mind i think next song. the official Mista O album. Its coming soon. After the cassette tape series and ep. Then it will be the official Mista O album.

Any new music videos you are working on? Planning on a tour anytime soon?

Yeah next single will be social skillz. A tour hopefully. a Mista O tour. Sounds hard.

How are you coping with this whole Covid 19 situation? Has it delayed any new music production by any chance?

It didn’t stop my creativity. Kirkin out got made, 410 bitches 2 got made, da rant got made. Thank you lord im headed to the finish line with my creativity.

In 2021, who is on your own personal music rotation playlist!? Any new artists you are listening to?

Mostly nostalgic shit. Evening rnb. Chico debarge, anita baker, trey lorenz, london jones, xscape. But my dna is hip hop.

Out of the box type question, If it came down to 1 ALBUM only, what underground Hip Hop album would you consider THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!???……One 1 album you can choose.

Az- doe or die

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Artist who make shit if it don’t sell or not, artist who learn from mistakes, artist who stay in faith though thick and thin. Artist who go from minor to major.

Any shout outs?

Yeah shout out to the whole Baltimore city and shout out to my sister, brother, oalkey ave, park heights, god, my mother , my stepfather, grandfather, grandmother.
