Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon will make its debut on top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album released on July 3, will take the top slot with 251,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 9.
The release was the debut studio album for the late rapper. The album has the sixth biggest debut of 2020 and the third-largest for a Hip-Hop album. The three Hip-Hop efforts ahead of him are Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake and Eminem’s Music to be Murdered By.
The album also is the fourth-largest streaming effort of the year as it brought in 268.44 million on-demand streams. Shoot for the Stars also became the first posthumous album to hit the no.1 slot since XXXTentacion’s 2018 effort Skins.
Aside from the success of the album, authorities in California have arrested five men that they believe are associated with the murder of the NYC rapper earlier this year.
