According to several confirmed reports over the weekend, Michael “Double K” Turner of the Los Angeles-based group People Under The Stairs has passed away. He was 43 years old.

Formed in 1997 with crew member Thee Ones, People Under The Stairs dropped their debut LP The Next Step the very next year. PUTS released 15 albums since then, including their memorable O.S.T. album in 2002.

The late Mac Miller paid tribute to the group in his 2011 song titled after the group’s name, which was made by Miller to salute PUTS’ contribution to the West Coast’s underground scene.

Turner’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
