Oprah Winfrey and The Rock Sip Tequila and Toast his Father, a Week after Rocky, Sr.’s Death

Last week, wrestling and motion major film giant Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lost his father, a giant in his own right. Rocky Johnson was one of the first Blacks to participate in professional wrestling. Knicknamed “Soul Man,” Johnson Sr. was born Wade Douglas Bowels and has passed away on Jan. 15th at the age of 75.

Despite the recent passing of his father, Dwayne honored his commitment to meet with Oprah Winfrey at Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour.

According to Oprah.com, the session was for an hour and he talked with the media maven about his career, how it was to transition from being a popular wrestler to the highest-paid actor in Hollywood. Unpacking that and fresh on his mind was his rich wrestling heritage.

He revealed that he was born to wrestle. His father and grandfather were wrestlers, making him the third generation of Johnson men to hit the mat.

But the conversation was not all about his career and mourning his dad. He did brighten the moment by debuting his new Tequila called, Teremana which will be launched commercially in March.

According to the www.spiritbusiness.com, the beverage is “designed to be the ‘Tequila of the people’, Teremana will comprise two expressions: Teremana Blanco (RRP US$29.99 per 750ml bottle) and Teremana Reposado (RRP US$32.99 per 750ml bottle).”

The Rock informed Winfrey that they would not be “taking” the liquor but would be sipping.

“So I would like to make a toss to your father… ” Winfrey toasted, “To the man that helped make you the man that you are. May your relationship with him in the beyond be stronger more profound and bring you all the love that you have always deserved.”
